In short, the service in the store was horrible, the warranty is a scam, and the entire thing was deceptive, degrading, and despicable.
I purchased an office chair at this OfficeMax on 9/15/11. It was a $180 chair that was discounted to $100. I was told by the sales associate and a manager or supervisor that if I purchased the 3 year warranty on the chair that it would be replaced if anything happened to it, no questions asked.
I was wary of this promise so I checked the service protection booklet as well. It said that "If your furniture fails, we arrange to have it repaired and pay the bill - no deductibles, no hidden fees. If your product cannot be repaired, it will be replaced."
Less than a year later and the seams are coming apart on the chair. I call the customer service number and they tell me (after more than an hour wait) that they can reimburse me for the $100 purchase price of the chair, but nothing more. They will not arrange to have it repaired; they said that wasn't even an option. When I asked to have it replaced, they said they don't have a warehouse with products and that they never replace anything, they just reimburse the customer for the purchase price.
I assumed there must be some misunderstanding and spoke to a supervisor on the phone to no avail. I then went into the store to try to get my chair replaced. I spoke to Ryan, the store manager. He told me he could do nothing at all. He couldn't give me money or a chair. He told me that he found nothing confusing about the service protection pamphlet, despite it never even using the words "reimburse" or "purchase price" anywhere. He told me that he didn't understand why I found it confusing, that no one in his twelve years had ever complained about not being able to get the product they purchased a warranty for replaced with the same or an equivalent product. He insinuated, without actually saying it, that I was an idiot and he just wished I would leave.
I asked him, "Which is more clear, more helpful to the customer, or better represents the actual warranty program: 'If your product cannot be repaired, it will be replaced.' [this being what is actually written in the pamphlet] or 'If your product cannot be repaired, you will be reimbursed for the purchase price of the product, not including any discounts on the original retail price.'" [this being what the program actually is]. He literally laughed at me and said he found nothing confusing about the wording in the pamphlet.
In the end, I received nothing for my time, effort, and frustrations except to have a store manager laugh at me for wanting the chair I purchased to be replaced with the same or an equivalent product. Utterly disgusting...
Read moreI live in Orem. Since a few years I toped going to this location. There's very bad customer service in the printing department. I came back today hopping that every thing have changed, NO! as soon I asked for the email to order a printing job, she answered, and just that feeling came back like I'm not supposed to be there, and thst she is not happy to help, mad my skin shink. She send me to go and read some thing, and on the wall. I been to other Office Depot in Utah, I help people with Insurance al over the state. This is the only place where I have encountered this kind of service. It wasn't like that before, I remember that I would love to go to this location and ask for help, and they will let me know if they were busy or not. That I can place an ordr on line or they can help me to do it but I had to come back, or if I can wait fo a few minutes they will be able to help me. I would wait by going to see what is new in the store, and end up buying something else. I'm not a good looking guy I an not white, but but I'm a US citizen, I been living in Oren, Provo area since 1982, I wish to feel welcome every where I go. This is my home town. Actually, every one should feel welcome no matter color or gender, or origen. The way she talk to clients, like she is better than everyone else, and like she doesn't care about clients' need. It seams like she's only there to get paid. IIt made me rund out the door, not without telling her a little of how I felt. People like that, should be working in the back, avoiding to talk to customers. dealing with her own problem...
Read moreI placed an order online for a printer. The shipping company used, TForce, made a first attempt to deliver the printer and I was not able to be there to receive it. I emailed TForce and requested to pick up the printer at a shipping center and was told that this was not allowed due to covid. I requested that the printer be dropped off at the front door instead for contact-less receiving to comply with covid precautions. TForce acknowledged my request and made a second delivery but did not leave the printer as requested and returned it to the shipper, Office Depot, and said to contact them with any further questions. I contacted Office Depot customer support and was told I was unable to get the printer reshipped to me using a different carrier and I was told to reorder the printer. The printer is out of stock and I mentioned this to the support representative and was offered to purchase the printer on back order and would receive it two months later. I declined because I need the printer sooner for work and had no choice but to process a return. Overall my experience was very negative and being unable to work out a way to get the printer was very unacceptable with no options for accommodation. I would not recommend anyone to purchase online from...
