DO NOT WAIST YOUR TIME IN THIS CONSULATE AND USE THE ONE IN MIAMI!!!
July 18, 2025 Today is my 5th day trying to schedule my appointment to renew my passport and again a complete epic failure. Around 9:07 am, the booking website through outlook finally started loading and it takes about 10mins before the schedule pops up. Once the schedule pops up it takes another 10 mins to tell you there are no appointments available or if it provides you with options after selecting a time and pressing the Reserve button it will start loading again for another 10 mins followed by an error.
August 12, 2025 After attempting for 2 weeks to get an appointment, I decided to try to get the appointment in the Miami Consulate. the process is very similar for the Miami Consulate but you can immediately notice the difference as they have a way better website to schedule the appointments. Still the appointments get booked super quickly but it only took me 3 days to be able to book an appointment to renew my passport.
You should get an email and a text confirmation that the appointment was booked. Do not arrive earlier than 20 mins they will not see you before your schedule time and if you arrive too early they will not be able to enter the building and its super hot/rain.
Once you are there everyone is super nice. So you arrive and there is a security guy check in that you name is on the list. if your name is not on the list he will not let you in. (dont waist your time fighting the guy its not fair to him). Then there will be another security guy inside to guide you to check in at the reception so you can get a number and they will call you by number. The guy also told me that the Colombian bakery next to the consulate they sell the USPS priority mail envelopes (take a picture of the tracking number on the envelope) so they can ship the passport to your home. Do this the envelop cost around $25. As a said everyone is super nice so you can get the envelope before or after they will help you to get in again so you can drop off the envelope.
The process it self of taking the picture and figure prints did not take more than 10 mins. They have a very well organized system. 13 days after i received an email that the new passport arrived in the Miami consulate. that same they they process my passport through USPS so it can arrive to my home and it took 6 days for USPS to...
Read moreDisappointing Experience at the Colombian Consulate in Orlando, Florida
As a Colombian citizen living in Orlando, Florida, I recently had the unfortunate experience of dealing with the Colombian Consulate in this city. To put it bluntly, my encounter with their staff was nothing short of disappointing and frustrating.
From the moment I entered the consulate, it was evident that professionalism was lacking. The staff members appeared disinterested and unwilling to assist. Instead of offering solutions or alternatives, their default response seemed to be a flat-out denial of any assistance, leaving me feeling helpless and frustrated.
What struck me the most was the sheer rudeness and lack of empathy displayed by the consulate employees. When I inquired about other options or avenues for assistance, they brushed off my concerns without even attempting to explore potential solutions. Their dismissive attitude only added to the sense of helplessness I felt as a visitor seeking their services.
One of the most aggravating aspects of my experience was attempting to schedule an appointment. The process was akin to navigating a labyrinth, with arbitrary restrictions and unreasonable expectations. Having to wake up at midnight on Fridays to secure an appointment slot was not only inconvenient but also impractical for many individuals with busy schedules. Moreover, the short window of opportunity to make an appointment felt absurd and unfair, leaving little room for error or delay.
Overall, my interaction with the Colombian Consulate in Orlando, Florida, was highly unsatisfactory. The lack of professionalism, coupled with the rude and unhelpful demeanor of the staff, made for a frustrating experience. The cumbersome appointment scheduling process only added to the overall sense of disappointment.
As a member of the Colombian community in Orlando, I hope that the consulate takes steps to improve its services and foster a more welcoming and helpful environment for those seeking assistance. It is essential for diplomatic institutions to prioritize the needs and concerns of their constituents rather than subject them to unnecessary hurdles and...
Read moreAbsolutely the worst consulate. I have ever been too. I have been to the one in NYC and Miami. These people are so rude. Treated us like we were bottom feeders. Treated us with no respect. And is going to cause us several trips from Tampa because they don't pick up the phone to answer the calls. While the girl said " as you can see, we are busy here" as her coworker is texting on his phone. Hire someone to answer call and emails. You are wasting people time and money. Learn to treat people with dignity and respect and fix your website. That it a hot mess as well. Online it specified that money order than other says Visa or cash. I really didn't appreciate all the eye rolling at my little sister who doesn't speak Spanish at all. Also, if we set up an appt. We shouldn't have to wait an hour especially when you already on your so call website says to arrive 15 mins prior and we arrived 30 mins prior since we were traveling from Tampa.
Update: Had to make an appt again 4 years later. Can we just say they changed the site and its absolutely a hot mess. Online it says to upload any paperwork for Apostilled. Thats a flat out lie. You need to make an appt to go and get it apostilled. Fix the website to be like the other consulate/embassy. The waiting time is ridiculous. What is the point of having an appt. We waited over an hour after our appointment time. The people that work there is so rude. And don't get me started when the man wanted my minor autistic nephew to sit outside of the cubicle. and didn't like that we said no. That is a clear violation of the disability act. The only nice person at this location is the...
