Resident since 2021 here with my very honest review.
First off, THIS IS NOT A LUXURY APARTMENT, very much the opposite.
-I would like to point out all the false 5 star reviews across the board. I have been here a while and have never seen or met one single person in any of these reviews who live in the building.
ELEVATORS - break often and when they are out of service theres often long lines to get up to your floor. I know this happens and theres often nothing management can do and you may just have to take the stairs but then theres another issue. All stair wells are separate from the lobby outside, They are also locked so you cant even get in, If you can get in you are still out of luck because the stairwell doors on every floor are locked.
TRASH CHUTE - If you live on like 7th floor or lower you are pretty much going to be constantly screwed with trash being backed up in the trash chute, which leads to residents leaving trash in the halls and its HORRIBLE to come home to.
REPAIRS - Things are often under repair like garage door, the pool, trash compactor, a couple times since I have lived there, Entire floors flooded with water from a pipe burst situation in someones apartment. The grill also never work when you want them and the staff has no clue how to work them either.
LEASE RENEWAL - I have lived here for nearly 4 years and not to boast but I would like to think we were the most upstanding, clean, and kindest residents you could ask for. We followed all the rules, we never caused problems for residents or staff or did anything we weren't allowed/suppose to do and the previous Skyhouse Mangament can vouch for that.
This was the last straw for us - We pay $2550 for a 2-BR Apartment, When it was time for renewal amongst all the stuff breaking in the building what does this "Luxury" apartment do? They want to raise our rent. It was at this time, We pretty much decided were moving out, What were already paying for and more is insane for what you get.
I get a call from management saying that we have a month to decide, I inform them that IF they can get our rent to $2000k a month OR somewhere close, meet us in the middle, whatever then we will happily still stay. All the while they state "We definately don't want you guys to move out.
Inevitably they end up never responding, or getting back to us on that so we just sign the move-out form. They put our unit up immediately for $2100. I go back to the office to request that rate for our unit and basically state that they can't negotiate, They wont even give it to us for the rate they have it posted for and I can not fathom why.
The official move-out expenses situation was probably the worst part about all of this. Moved out and left the apartment clean and spotless, Cleaner then we got it in fact. They tried to charge us insane amounts in damages for paint, carpet cleaning, drywall damage, tried doubling up the carpet cleaning fees, Anything they could think of to rip us off.
Even worse after we denied all these claims they sent us picture proof of a DIFFERENT apartment that actually showed these damages with a picture of our unit number plate on top so you know this was an intentional fraudulent attempt to prove the damages and not just an accident. Even worse, The office staff claimed multiple times that the pictures were of our unit, even stating, "We were just up there" or "We took those pictures personally" We caught them right in there lies as we provided ACTUAL pictures of our unit to them. This management definately doesn't read the lease terms before charging you so make sure you do, they are lazy, liars, fraudulent and they WILL try to rip you off when you move out.
We moved out a month ago now and our unit is STILL empty and available, You can not make this up they are literally on the verge of losing money on this deal because they refused to give us the rate they had posted it online for.
It blows my mind the way we were treated after be very loyal and respectable residents for the...
Read moreUPDATE! Incompetence is the name of the game here! They all have two brain cells and they’re both fighting for last place. What can you expect when the regional manager is part of the supervised population til 2028 for theft up to 20k. Gateway only picks the best talent clearly. Then you see all these reviews about them fraudulently charging people extra. Makes you think …..
The fact they send emails to clear our balcony to prevent damage from a major hurricane yet leave the pool furniture tucked in a corner outside on the roof for it to become a projectile is comical. No regard for our safety or just again incompetence and laziness. They shut off one elevator even thought they claim that’s the only one on a generator so how’s it gonna work when the powers out and they have it turned off …. Zero common sense. No information or resources for when things go south. Can’t wait for a new patio chair in my living room on Friday! The old managers handled these situations much better.
Just when I thought it couldn’t get worse. Beyoncé at the front desk is extremely rude and gossips. They keep a detailed log with your visitors drivers license info which violates your privacy specially when they show others and talk about who’s visiting to other residents. (I smell a lawsuit). If you value privacy don’t move here. Safety wise. None of the doors work here. Anyone can walk in the front door cause they don’t lock. Which is great when they don’t have someone working over night at the desk! Which happens often. You get trapped on the sky deck cause that door doesn’t work half the time. Lights in the garage staircase still don’t work. We went from starbucks individual brew to Folgers community shared pot next to the bathroom. Real sanitary and classyyyyy. NOT LUXURY AT ALL! Run don’t walk away. Update! No coffee maker anymore! Guess the place is hurting that much for money. Pool was down forever. Fire alarm going off non stop at all hours for the past week. Hallways always dirty now lucky if it’s vacuumed once a month same with pool and sky deck and out front. Seems like they got rid of the people who did it to save money well they charge us more to live in what’s turning into low income housing. Maintenance is clueless and just walks around all day doing nothing except write reviews about their own performance. Place is falling apart garage is dark all night and not safe has been for months nothing is done about it. ( finally fixed the lights after a year) but now you get stuck in the garage elevator. Double billed for things never agreed on. Everything is always an extra charge yet we get nothing for it. The higher up manager were always sent too is rude and doesn’t seem to know what it takes to run a luxury place. Def moving out too a real luxury place soon November can’t come sooner and from what other residents are saying they are too. It’s a shame this place used to be amazing and super friendly. Now it’s run down and scam after scam. Anything to grab extra money. Advertisements all over the place to try and get more money from us. It’s tacky and a slap in the face to the people who live here. No one wants to see rent the club room advertisement day in and out in the lobby and elevators. Bring back the live tv and sports that actually brought residents together. Now all we can do is complain to each other about how down hill this place has fallen. They won’t do that though cause they don’t care what residents think or want.
Saying you care but waiting weeks to see who stole bikes out of the garage only for the video to be deleted and then have the audacity to try to sell secure bike storage for 25 a month. Tell us you don’t care about resident satisfaction without telling us. The CHATGPT responses also show they don’t care at all from the...
Read morethey also put a ticket in my windshield this morning for not having a parking permit which I do have
Here’s a second update: Trash is full not working under “maintenance” only one elevator working which means elevator full of people and it takes the longest to go up or down, I put a mold service resquest 4 days ago and the still haven’t done anything
Update: when I leased the apartment I was misinformed they told me that to break my lease would be around 4K, a month ago my other have and I bought a house due to the horrible experience at sky house apartments and we didn’t want to deal with another apartment complex , turns out now I need 8,400 to break my lease, this is ridiculous is almost the down payment we gave for the house we purchased. Yesterday I was walking to my apartment, but I wanted to talk to leasing office because i wanted the total amount so i could write a check, it looked like they were closing, and i stopped one of the lady’s I forgot to ask her name but she had a nasty attitude and ask for my apartment number she didn’t even took the time to look at my contract or tell me to come in tomorrow she looked at me up and down and said is going to be your rent x4 this is ridiculous, disgusting place to live.
Horrible Experience at Skyhouse Apartments - Stay Away! I regret moving into Skyhouse Apartments. The experience has been a nightmare, and I urge anyone considering it to look elsewhere. Here’s why:
Elevators Never Work Imagine coming home exhausted from work, only to find the elevators out of service AGAIN. I’ve had to climb 21 floors more times than I can count. And when I finally reach the top, the receptionist casually asks, "Can you get something from your house to prop the door open?" Are you kidding me?
Filthy Conditions The trash cans in the garage are always overflowing. It's disgusting. Worse still, the garage has no lights at night, making it a hazard with poor visibility.
Neglected Hallways The hallways are a disgrace. They don’t vacuum anymore, and the stench of pee and poop is unbearable. The trash inside the building sometimes overflows, spreading a foul odor throughout.
Rude Receptionists The new receptionists are incredibly rude. Some don’t even say good morning, good afternoon, or good night. Their attitude is unacceptable and makes living here even more unpleasant.
Unsafe Elevators I got trapped in an elevator recently and had a full-blown anxiety attack. Imagine being stuck after a long day at work. It was terrifying and unacceptable.
Closed Amenities The pool was closed for most of the summer. It’s evident they are cutting corners to save money, to the detriment of residents.
Constant Fire Alarms The fire alarms go off constantly, forcing residents to walk down 21 floors, only to find out it's a false alarm. When there’s a real emergency, I probably won’t believe it.
Terrible Management The new owners are a disaster. They present a glamorous facade, but the reality is far from it. Living here has been the worst experience I’ve ever had. The previous owners was better
Low Income Appearance Despite the high rent, this place looks like a low-income apartment. The maintenance is subpar, and it’s clear they don’t care about the residents.
Broken Food Disposal Since I moved in, the food disposal has never worked and nothing gets fixed
I would love to terminate my lease, but I'm stuck in a dead contract. There seems to be no way out of this nightmare.
Avoid Skyhouse Apartments at all costs. It’s not worth the stress and...
