Iām giving a one star review because I cannot leave zero. This was a very horrible experience! I usually can go in and get what I need but in this particular visit I found what I wanted but only saw the tester. I was afraid it was not in stock or it was only available online. I looked around for employees to ask, but they were congregated around one employee that they were trying to figure out how sheās going to do her eyeliner for a valentines get together, she called it a Galentines get together. I waited to see if any one of the 3 employees would look my way or approach to see if I needed assistance (15 minutes waiting) they continued staying together intentionally ignoring that they had someone wanting to ask a question. The employee that was having the other lady work on her face said very loudly that she was glad that there was no customers in the store so that she could play around with the makeup. I was not the only customer within 15 feet of this group of employees. There was one employee that was doing a color match on another customer⦠I hope that customer did not hear that employee say that. Thatās the moment I decided against picking out my full face of make up that I had planned to buy, and made the conscious decision to never step foot in this Ulta again! I would rather drive to Pell city, or any other surrounding ones if I need to instead of going to the one that is more convenient just to be treated like that again. Iāve heard others say negative things about this Ulta but I never experienced it firsthand like I did today. Iām leaving the review in hopes that employees learn and understand that ignoring customers is not the way any business should be ran. Iāve been a loyal Ulta Beauty customer for years, and I generally enjoy shopping there, especially because of the rewards program and the helpful staff. But today, during my visit to the Ulta Beauty in Oxford, Alabama, I had one of the most disappointing checkout experiences Iāve ever encountered.
When I approached the register, Kylie assisted me. Unfortunately, there was no greeting, no warm welcomeājust a flat āCan I have your phone number?ā No āHi,ā no āDid you find everything okay?āānot even a smile. I gave her my number, she confirmed my name, checked me out, and that was the end of our interaction. It felt rushed, impersonal, and honestly, a bit dismissive.
As I was walking past, I overheard Erin helping another customer. She was incredibly engagingāexplaining reward points, checking status updates, letting her customer know how close she was to her next certificate. Thatās when it hit me: Kylie never even mentioned my pointsāand itās my birthday month! It completely slipped my mind at checkout.
When Erin finished with her customer, I mentioned what happened, and she immediately offered to help. She asked for my number, looked up my account, and told me I had $17.50 available in points. She also reminded me of my $10 birthday certificate because Iām a Platinum member. Erin made me feel seen and valuedāshe went above and beyond to ensure I was getting everything I was entitled to.
I canāt thank Erin enough for turning my experience around. People like her are the reason I continue shopping at Ulta. But todayās visit left me with mixed emotions.
