I stay at a lot of hotels for work, so maybe my standards are a little higher. I would have stayed at the Fairfield or one of the Hiltons but the team lead chose this hotel based on what lodging was available within our authorized spending limit for the area.
First issue I had was that the key cards to my room did not work when I checked in. Went back to the front desk and had them reduce. This time I got in fine. Then I had a maintenance guy open my door without knocking to check my keys right after I got into my room. He insisted that he check my key cards even though I said it was good now, and would not leave without checking them. I was already in my room by this time, so they were obviously working.
The next morning I saw what passed for breakfast. They have muffins, granola bars, choice of cereal and some sort of omelette tortilla thing you can microwave. The omelette tortilla thing was not impressive. I had cereal on the second day.
Meanwhile, one of my coworkers staying here had the Orkin man walk into her room unannounced right as she was about to deadbolt it. This was right after we checked in. So she switched rooms right away. On our second morning she came down to breakfast last, talking about the two cockroaches she had smashed, mangled and decapitated while screaming bloody murder in her room. We almost switched hotels that day. I stopped eating the cereal.
As I type this up, we are still staying in this hotel but heading for the airport in the morning. We are PRAYING we don't run into any more issues.
If you want a nice bar to casually hang out at in the area, go to the Hilton Garden. That's where we have been spending our evenings after dinner. The La Quinta is just an affordable hotel and...
Read moreI booked this hotel through Priceline. The receipt stated that check in time was at 3:00 and if you didn't check in by 9 you could possibly loose your room with no refund.(if that was stated prior to payment I would have considered another hotel.) I called to see if it was possible to have an early check in. The receptionist was very rude, while explaining to me that check in starts at 4:00 and they didn't allow early check-in because guests always complain about the room not being up to par. I explained to her that I was coming to Anniston for work and I needed to be at the job site by 3 and it would be after 9 when I returned. I didn't need to physically be in the room at that time I just didn't want to lose money. She finally agreed and said the earliest she would allow me to check in was 2:30. When I arrived the receptionist was very nice. I don't think it was the same person I talked to on the phone. I have no complaints about the condition of the room however my room was located on the first floor near the lobby and laundry room. The staff were very noisy all night long! Either they were talking loud or the carts they used to haul laundry were making a racket. It sounded like all four wheels were loose. I barely got any rest due to the noise. The last time I looked at the clock it was 4:26 am. When I finally dozed off housekeeping was beating at the door at 9:00. I told them that I was still resting. The second time I told them to come back. They wasted no time because between then and 11 they came back 3 more times. Check out time was 12. I have no complaints with the hotel room but the staff were very...
Read moreBooked on Sunday July 30th Requested 2 cribs, and a bottom floor. Also notified them we were traveling for our anniversary.
• We were sent an email the day before our reservation notifying us that they do not have cribs (I understand they can’t give us something they don’t have, but notifying us the day before is unacceptable) • When we arrived we were told that the only room available was on the highest floor, and that it was the last room in the hall (the exact opposite of what we requested), and I do not believe that when I booked a week in advance I booked the last room available for this day. • After we got in our room we noticed a thin piece of semi-sharp metal just laying around. Why was this not picked up by staff members before a client was checked in, let alone one with small kids? • We requested additional pillows to try and make the room a little safer for the kids since they would not be sleeping in a crib, and were originally told that they didn’t have any. After talking a little longer we were told that they would go through each floors hospitality room and bring us every additional pillow they had. We never heard from the staff again. (I feel it should be noted that the staff member I spoke with was taking a personal phone call before our conversation, and was not in the middle of some time sensitivity work activity that would explain...
