Backstory: Came here with my group of 8 (split into two groups of 4) the day before my wedding. We had the first and second tee time of the day. The starter asked if we were okay to let a single go in front of us, which of course was no problem! He sends our first group of 4 off, then the group of 4 I was in went next. We had 2 elderly ladies starting behind us that decided to skip hole 1 all together. They went around us and cut in between our 2 groups, WHILE MY GROUP WAS STILL FINISHING THE FIRST HOLE. We get up to the second hole and have to wait to tee off because the little old ladies JUST came off the tee box. Eventually my 4 went, but we again had to sit still and wait for them to finish up hole number 2. We stayed right on them and laid on the pressure, because what they did was extremely unreasonable and rude. After cutting us off and putting us at a stand still, the 2 ladies then decided to get out from between our 2 groups, cutting off our first group that went out, CLOGGING THEM UP TOO. Hole number 3 took FOREVER because of the ladies cutting off both of our groups. We could see the group behind us backed up as well. We were in disbelief they clogged the course up and almost called up to the club house to complain. Sadly, we never did.
THE KICKER: We finish up hole 4 and are heading to 5 when the starter comes zooming up to us on his golf cart. He angrily told us to speed up and that our group of 8 was holding up the whole course. When we tried to explain what had happened with being jumped, he cut us off and boomed, "I'VE BEEN WATCHING YOU GUYS!! YOU'VE BEEN SITTING STILL, PICK UP THE PACE!!!" We didn't give up and proceeded to explain what the ladies did but he refused to hear it. He said, "I RUN THIS COURSE!!! YOU GUYS HAVE GOT THE WHOLE COURSE P*SSED OFF AT YA!! NOW PICK IT UP!! I KNOW WHO THOSE LADIES ARE AND THEY'RE MEMBERS HERE!!!!" I don't care if they're members. No one else would ever get away with what they did on any other golf course. And yeah, the starter was right! We were sitting still BECAUSE BOTH OF OUR GROUPS WERE CUT OFF. I guess we could have hit our our balls with the two ladies in the line of fire, but no one in our group wants to see 80 year old ladies get hurt!
The starter continued to be insanely rude. I've never felt so disrespected as a paying customer, at any place I've ever been to. It absolutely trashed our golf round. Nothing like paying $65 a person for a group of 8, just to have your golf round the day before your wedding absolutely ruined. We finished our round in 4 hours and 15 minutes. What a joke. Had our group not been cut off, we would have been on pace.
There was literally nothing we could have done to play faster. We could not safely hit the golf ball. I understand the starter needs to keep a good pace, but he was yelling at the wrong people. Thereâs absolutely no reason to ever be so disrespectful and rude to any other human being, regardless. He was completely degrading and...
Read moreWe were recently up in Gatlinburg for one of our buddies bachelor party. We had a large party (12) and called ahead of time to make sure it was okay if we had that large of a party. We were split up into 3 groups of 4 with 3 different tee times which was perfectly fine. We were told we would receive a group rate, which we didn't actually receive, which again is fine. A few of the guys in our group didn't have their own clubs and were going to share with their cart mate and we were told prior to teeing off on hole 1 that everyone had to have their own set of clubs and if you didn't you had to rent a set for $30 on top of the $50 to play. We also over-paid for beer at the course and were happy to do so for convenience. The greens were also aerated and we weren't told that either. It might not be a big deal to some but we had some very avid golfers in our party as well as a few non-avid ones.
All in all, this golf course made close to $700 from our party this day and we were treated VERY poorly. Knowing that we had some non-avid golfers in our group we elected to play best ball to speed up our pace. On hole 7 an employee stops us on the green and tells us we were holding up the entire golf course and we needed to skip some holes to make up the time. We were averaging around 20 minutes a hole. There was also nobody behind us except for the 3rd group of our party and no one behind them. We ended up not finishing hole 7 and skipping 8 and 9 just to have this employee stop following us.
We will not be attending the course ever again due to us being treated very poorly and unfairly after spending a lot of money...
Read moreMy spouse and I took a vacation to the Gatlinburg, TN area. Gatlinburg golf course was a place we were recommended to play. At $85 (one player w/ own bag, cart and 1 spectator) we expected to have our OWN tee time of 9:10-as we had booked 4 days in advance. When we showed up, the gentleman at check-in stated he had put us with a group of 3, as single players 'slowed down the game'. We willingly joined the group. After further conversation it was discovered, this is a normal procedure at this course unless they are having a very slow day. As a patron, I was very disappointed I was having to be a 'card mates' with strangers, prior to advance notice. When I had originally booked this tee time, I had thought I was booking a time for just myself and my spouse. Furthermore, the gentleman in our group was a member of the club (which is common, according to the other two players in our party - local players) this gentleman then gave me advice, which I respectfully expected; however, not ALL 18 HOLES, every stroke, every put. Although the course was beautiful, and the company on our team was kind. I was just VERY disappointed that I wasn't notified in advance that I'd be placed with another group; especially when I was expecting it to be a relaxing day of golf with my spouse at $85 for the course. (I had reviewed their website in advance before posting this review as to ensure I didn't miss a memo regarding 'card mates', not once is it stated on their website, nor over the phone that you'll be grouped with other parties regardless of your size party). My chances of revisiting this course or suggesting it to others...
