Be warned when you join the group situated across the street from the Labor Center. Despite my kind disposition and willingness to engage in conversation to establish trust. I wasn't treated well by some. Out of the 10 workers, two showed a crude and disrespectful behavior, that was not just shocking, but unprofessional. And out of the 10 workers, one was drinking hard liquor which should be against policy. But out of the 10 workers, one showed a hostility towards me, through my 20 minutes of getting to know the ropes. He took control of each car that approached by stopping the car and demanding to know how many workers they needed. Favoritism was an obvious problem! He accosted me by calling me a profanity and talking about me in a negative way, further disrupting my ability to be a worker. He resembled an ex-con with a demeanor that would resort to violence if he felt the need for it. I left with him calling me names, seeing that harassment is a problem that must be dealt with. Without oversight these individuals acted as to be expected, with the exception of the few who would ruin anyone's prospect of getting a fair chance at a day job. I was moving from Plano to Dallas. 4th floor to 2nd floor. Almost all moving companies were asking for a minimum of $550. I then chose to rent a truck by myself and hired two workers from here. We settled at $12 per hour but the workers wanted $50 for the whole day per head so I agreed to it. I had a TV, couch, a Queen bed, and couple smaller items like a bookshelf, side stands, center table, entertainment stand etc. All packing and moving including disassembly and assembly took a total of 4 hours and I'm very happy to have chosen honest hardworking day labour instead of a moving company that most likely wouldn't have even shown up on the day of move. I hired 4 movers to unload a truck and to do basic furniture assembly. They did unload the truck but were not so good with furniture assembly.
