This is the first one star rating I’ve done, and I would like to explain why. I visited a few local shops to find a new wall piece for my house and while in the Antique Mall I came across two larger paintings that I thought would fit well. I was originally going to buy both, but upon inspecting one of them I realized that it was a print. When I looked at the back, it still had the retail sticker from a chain store...at a lower price than the vendor was selling. I decided to buy the larger painting that was obviously not a print for $400. When I got the painting back to my house, I thought about the other print, and curious, Google image searched it. To my surprise it was a readily available commercial print that retailed at a lower price from chain stores, same as the other print I had decided not to purchase. 1: Being a working artist myself I do not want a commercial wall piece. 2: I want to point out at this point that this business, according to their description, sells antiques and collectables, and this painting was neither. I returned the next day the manager was in and brought the painting. I politely and “matter of fact” laid out the situation. The manager was quick to tell me that they had a strict no return policy. I explained this was an extenuating circumstance. She proceeded to tell me that she makes a point to tell her vendors to “make sure and take the price tags off Arc, thrift store etc. items.” I presented her with a hypothetical of buying a $200 item from a chain store and reselling it at the Antique Mall for $500 as a vendor, to which she replied with a shoulder shrug and head nod yes. I explained to her that I support local business as much as I can and enjoy shopping at places like the Antique Mall. She said that she would contact the vendor and see what they could do about the situation and call me back in the afternoon. I left the painting with them and thanked her for her time. I did not receive a call back, so I called them that evening before they closed. She informed me that they were not going to refund the money, but that I could pick up the painting and try to resell it. I told her I did not want the painting and did not want to sell a commercial print to someone else. I work in a locally owned gallery myself, and this business practice is not right. Again, I want to support local business, but I also want to be respected as a customer. If you shop here, just be cautious of what you’re buying. This business would be more accurately described as a thrift shop, as true antique stores vet, or at least try to vet the items being sold. The vendor in this case is vendor TRR. The vendor was wrong, and the mall should have...
Read moreMy family and I visited this store last year, during the age of Covid. We had been going stir-crazy and decided to go down to Pueblo for a day trip. We ended up visiting this area due to the high number of antique stores in the area.
I must say this store doesn't disappoint! We don't have locations like this anymore in Colorado Springs. If you are visiting Colorado Springs I would suggest you take some time to visit the beautiful riverwalk located near downtown Pueblo. Trust me when I say that you will have a much better time here than you will in downtown Colorado Springs. Clean streets, great focus on tourists, and a great social experience. This antique mall just seals the deal, friendly and helpful staff mixed with a great selection of all kinds of antiques. From MCM to turn of the century to everything in between and beyond. It is all very easy to look through. I even found a small stash of laserdiscs tucked away for the true collector to find! This is a must visit if you are...
