A Culinary Gem in Pueblo La Forchetta da Massi has been my culinary haven since 2016. As a former food critic with a decade of experience writing about food, music, movies, and video games, I have traveled the world and tasted many delights, but few have captivated me as consistently as this charming authentic italian restaurant. The bolognese at La Forchetta da Massi is a symphony of savory notes, each bite harmoniously blending rich tomato, aromatic garlic, and tender meat. Their squid ink pasta is a visual and gustatory masterpiece, the briny, slightly sweet flavors transporting you straight to the Mediterranean coast. Every dish, whether a familiar favorite or a seasonal specialty, is crafted with a precision that speaks of true culinary artistry. But it is not just the food that makes La Forchetta da Massi extraordinary. The owners and staff embody a spirit of hospitality that is rare and precious. They don't just serve meals; they create experiences. I recall the first time they prepared a special birthday cake for me, an act of kindness that went above and beyond. It’s this personal touch that transforms a meal into a memory. Their drink menu is thoughtfully designed to enhance the dining experience, each sip perfectly complementing the flavors on your plate. The ambiance is warm and inviting, making every visit feel like a special occasion, even when it’s just an ordinary day. I am a professional mushroom hunter and when I find a surplus of porcini, morels, or chanterelles I share them with the restaurant and they occasionally feature them on the menu. Massi knows how to elevate my prized wild edibles. La Forchetta da Massi has a unique magic. It has the power to turn a mundane day into something memorable, offering not just sustenance, but a sanctuary. If you find yourself in Pueblo, longing for an exceptional dining experience, look no further. La Forchetta da Massi deserves a place at the top of your list. Remember, their popularity is well-deserved, so do call ahead for a reservation. This is one culinary gem you won’t want to miss.

We came there on a Saturday evening for a dinner on a recommendation of the local chef who likes this place a lot. I tried to call to book a table and no one responded but I doubt we’d get a table anyway because the place seems to be very popular and they already had a ton of reservations lined up. They offered us seating either at the bar or on the patio outside. We chose the bar because the evening was going to be chilly and, to my surprise, it wasn’t loud at all. We felt like there were only the two of us there and enjoyed our time having a dinner. I have to say that food is expensive there. Even more expensive than you would find in the Springs and Denver. It’s made well and has a nice twist to it but get prepared to spend over $100 on a dinner even without alcohol. Portions won’t be large either. We ordered a Mediterranean salad to share and two entrees: lamb ribs and steak. We liked that both came with a side of greens. I don’t eat lamb but my husband liked his dish. I found it weird that while the octopus, for example, is priced upfront, their steak price is “market”, so you won’t know how much it will cost you until you get a bill. I probably shouldn’t have ordered a steak at the Italian place but I was craving it, so I decided to give it a try. I would say for the price I paid ($38), I could have had a better steak pretty much anywhere. It was small and tasted like it was boiled instead of fried. I wasn’t too disappointed because only a few places for some reason can cook a well-done steak properly but this one also had a weird aftertaste of liver, so I’d say the cut itself could have been better quality. This is the reason why I don’t give the place a five. Since we spent quite some time there and our portions were fairly small, we also went for coffees and desserts. Both tiramisu and chocolate cake were fresh and delicious, and our coffees were good, too. Service was great and the lady at the bar was really charming. I would probably come back for coffees and desserts if I come to Pueblo again.

The reviews were fabulous. It's a small local restaurant. Not impressed. Food was just OK. Pasta dishes were dry, lacking sauce (and I don't like a lot of sauce) Pasta Carbonara was dry and only pasta with bacon?? No egg or peas or anything else. Literally had to add olive oil so I could eat it. Hubby has Gnocchi Ragu with Wild Boar (after wrong dish brought out). It had great flavor but the gnocchi pasta was tiny and not much beef...overpriced. Our friend had Frutti di Mari...it was OK but again lacking sauce, very dry. Service was excellent!! Waiter very attentive, fun and friendly. I'm not sure I'd return. Again price for food served not good. **update 3/9 ** After nasty reply from Owner/Chef.... this place will never see us again. FACT is my husband's grandmother from Italy made homemade fresh pasta dishes every day, so YES I know what "authentic" Italian food is. Angry replies to unfavorable reviews is NOT good business or even kind. I stated MY honest opinion, sorry the owner didn't agree. I'm not the first person to be disappointed. Insulting and rude. Maybe other customers have never had any other "authentic" Italian food?? Anyway, don't bother with this restaurant and it's attitude. Drive north 1 hour to Old Colorado City. PARAVICINI'S, featured on Guy Fieri's show, Diners, Drive ins and Dives, is STILL the BEST Italian food in Colorado! And you don't have to ask for extra sauce!!

Overwhelming disappointed! Went there to celebrate job promotion told to moved (not so politely) by the hostess. She was rude and disrespectful! We were there 1st and told to move for another table of 5. We expressed our desire to stay and she argued with we us so we left..it was rude and totally inappropriate with zero regards to our reservation!! Do not go to this establishment! Service is a ZERO! Fire safe should do an inspection! Too many tables too close together with little room to walk.

update Owner claims the entire truth wasn't told but she is the one who is twisting the truth! Yes, we arrived early, NO we did not insist or make any demands to be seated. You wanted to seat us at a very small table for two with an extra chair in an extremely cramped space. That is when I said the reservation was for 4 not 3. We waited patiently for a table; you were the one that said you would get a table ready. 5 MINUTES before the reservation time. The table you sat us at was cramped but totally acceptable and we settled in to order. After ordering our wine, you TOLD us we had to move, NOT ASKED, BUT TOLD US to move literally to a table directly behind us! I could have turned my chair around and sat at that table. I said we were happy where we were and you threw in our faces that we were "early" and you wanted us to move. I said that we were fine and did not wish to move by the restrooms. First of all, you sat us there, second we had reservations, 3rd you did not ask, you told. 4th, if anyone had a bad attitude it was you! You continued to insist that we move! Is that good customer service? NO! Our wine was poured, we tried to enjoy our evening and you ruined it for all of us! We decided that you didn't want or need our business so we decided to leave. But that's OK, we ended up having a much better night with absolutely outstanding service and food at another establishment. Your attack on a review is exactly my proof of your unprofessionalism and contempt for people that don't agree with you! My review was spot on and it takes a lot more to be "good" establishment than...
