First time visiting Vintage Public House. We walked through the door and were immediately greeted by the hostess and taken to a table. The decor of the restaurant was warm and inviting. Menus, including a drink menu, were provided. It didn't take long for our server to arrive and drinks were ordered. After drinks arrived we ordered our food. We did not have to wait long for our food to arrive. Large plates, with large portions, well presented, in my opinion. The food tasted good, with good flavors and was served at an appropriate temperature. We had ordered the Cab Burger with Garlic Fries, Tofu bowl and Black Berry habañero street tacos. We enjoyed the drinks and the food. Now the not so great part. We arrived shortly after 5. So, as we drank and ate, the restaurant got busier. Unfortunately, our server had to attend to several other tables, including a group of ten. We also had 3 friends join us. Due to the busyness of the restaurant, we noticed there wasn't enough servers for the full restaurant. We waited well past 20 minutes to get one glass of water for our three additional friends. Then another 20 for two more glasses of water to arrive. By this time, we had decided that it was not going to be enjoyable to continue our visit, so we asked for our check. Seems things could have gone better. I wasn't able to try their great looking dessert, as I didn't want to wait the already unacceptable time to order it. I don't blame our server. It should be the Manager's responsibility to ensure customers are being taken care of in a timely manner. That didn't happen. I understand the limits of the current condition of personnel shortages. Seems a Saturday night should have a full staff. If not, there should be limits on the available tables to allow proper service for the customers. I haven't decided if I will give Vintage another opportunity for...
Read moreLeft a gift bag by accident under my chair with five little ring boxes with bows tied around them as gifts for my friends, left as the restaurant was closing around 9pm. Next day I came in to see if they'd been turned in and instead of five little wrapped ring boxes with five rings inside, there was no wrapping. Everything had been opened and undone. There was one ring box, with four rings inside instead of five. I'm trying to decide if I am allowed to be upset that the rings were opened and one was stolen, since let's be honest, it was my fault I forgot the bag under my chair. But frankly speaking: stealing is wrong and they went through a lot of trouble to open each box. When I spoke with the manager, he was defensive and said he background checked all of his employees. As if a background check is some kind of guarantee against thievery, dishonesty and deliberate intention to do wrong. An honest and professional response could have sounded like: Wow, I am so sorry that happened. I will speak to my staff and see if it turns up. Can I get your number to call you if I find the ring? And by the way, would you like a glass of wine on the house for your trouble? Instead of trying to take ownership of any kind, they deflected. Redding is so limited for places to eat real food so go ahead and eat here. But when you get up to use the bathroom....take your purse. And don't expect the management to try and make anything right if something goes wrong. In other words, as long as you have no standards and you keep your expectations in the trash, you'll be happy...
Read moreStopped in for a drink one day whilst doing what I did best as a high school student. I would stop into a place that looked interesting while on my way to work at C.D.F main office. I was trying to see what was still open before they all closed over the covid flu. I still don't understand why we closed are selves up, instead of the sick ONLY. There wasn't much and I once again saw people scared and lost like we were going inside for many years and people were lost. I never was late for work, as I had found what I would be doing for the rest of my life. A career was being handed to me and I was being mentored by a two great men and I was not going to mess up. It was cold that noon and I walked in and asked for a large glass of ice water. I was gifted with some fries and I haven't been able to get back but I plan on another down town...
