I rarely write bad reviews but this Riverton location really deserves it. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. I shop next door at Anthropologie pretty much every week and while I was there, my daughter went into Altar’d State to just follow up since she applied for a job with them about 2 weeks prior since she loves their clothes and just wanted to pop in to check on status and if they had any questions and what not, even if it was a “no, you didn’t get the job” she would’ve accepted it since she received an answer. Christine, the manager told one of the girls working the front to tell my daughter that she was too busy and will be on a conference call after so she doesn’t have time to talk to her. That would’ve sufficed but my daughter started browsing and looking at clothes and I guess Christine thought my daughter had left the store. My daughter saw her come out and start talking to people and when she moved to fold clothes, my daughter approached her to say hi, to which Christine told her “I don’t have time to talk to you, as you can see the store is busy” very rudely. My daughter was taken aback by her brash comment and attitude towards her when all she wanted to do was say hi…also the store was not busy at all. I swear if my daughter told me this happened while we were still at the shopping center I would’ve went in there and told her off myself but my daughter didn’t want to make a scene.
I’m never one to throw the race card because my family is basically the United Nations but my daughter is black and mirroring off what other customers have said, this manager is racist. As a business owner myself, I would never want customers or potential hires to have such a negative experience at my establishment that they come home absolutely mortified, like my daughter did. This manager is the face of the store and brand and a reflection of their company values. If this behavior is acceptable by this company then everyone deserves to know. I will be escalating this matter up the corporate chain, to the brand president, Tana Ward if I have to. I don’t care who you are or how much money you have, no one should be treated like they’re less than and you stepped on the wrong girls shoes because this mama bear is not...
Read moreI was made to feel totally embarrassed while in this shop.
I came in looking at all of the cute stuff and found a top I wanted to try on. There were no employees at the register and none in the dressing room area. There were however open dressing rooms with open doors and no indication that those rooms were being used. They will sometimes get rooms started for you and put your name on the door in chalk. I saw an open room with no name on the door and no clothes inside. In fact, there were several of these rooms open. I popped into the open room to try on one shirt and while I was undressed I get a knock on my door asking me how I'm doing in an incredibly passive aggressive condescending way followed by this employee informing me that this dressing room was actually reserved for someone else. Keep in mind, the store was not busy, there were many open dressing rooms and as I have stated several times, there were zero indications that this particular room was "reserved" at all. I calmly inform the employee that I am trying on one garment and I will be out. She then replies that she will be happy to get me my own room but that I need to get out of this one because again, it was "reserved". The tone was so condescendingly gross. I was made to feel like a criminal for jumping into an empty dressing room. Not cool. Won't be shopping here any more. Having a policy is fine. Treating costumers like...
Read moreSo many cute options and the customer service is the icing on the cake. Lately, I avoid shopping in person for multiple reasons, but I have a couple of last minute holiday parties and realized nothing I own fits. I’ve been having some autoimmune flare ups and gained a little weight and I walked into the store looking haggard, with my toddler, who became immediately obsessed with the fountain. I thought for sure we’d be getting some side eye, but instead, the staff was so friendly and kind, brought me endless sizes as I tried to figure out what fit, and I left with a couple of things that made me feel a little more confident. Moreover, I came back a second time to get a sweatshirt and Amanda and the cute girl with long dark hair helped me order a sweater for my daughter while honoring the discount code. I never once felt dismissed or unwelcome in spite of the state I was in. It...
