Karen's Hallmark Shop — Local services in Ross Township

This store was our 2nd stop today on my daughter’s list of things to do on the perfect mommy daughter day out. Sadly, it was also our last stop. She always asks to go into the hallmark store when we visit the mall. She loves to look around and I take note of the things she likes so I can come back and purchase them as presents. We do this so often that she’s figured it out and now points out her favorite items. She went straight to the Lounge Fly bags today and picked up a bracelet with her name on it while we were back there. After some more browsing, she decided she didn’t want the bracelet anymore so placed it on a shelf and we left. I understand that not putting something back where it belongs isn’t a great thing to do but it didn’t warrant what happened next. We were chased down by the clerk. She said “you were holding a bracelet!” and looked visibly upset. Everyone was staring at us and for a minute I was so shocked I didn’t even realize why she was looking at us so concerned. I stuttered that I left it on a shelf. My daughter was terrified and I was so embarrassed. The clerk asked me to show her so we walked back in and I showed her where I had placed it. We were absolutely humiliated. My daughter immediately asked to leave and cried all the way home. Our mommy daughter day was ruined.

Please be sure you have witnessed someone actually stealing before you chase her down the mall and terrify her 8 year old over a $9 bracelet.

Needless to say, hallmark is not her favorite store anymore. I don’t know that she’ll ever have the nerve to go back in. Which is perfectly fine by me as I will not be purchasing anymore...

I went into the store to get a gift, I was looking at wine keys, while doing so the worker genie came over with a look on her face like I was scum, I said these are cute, she said they are and started counting the wine keys as if I was stealing, that was so embarrassing for a worker to do this to me. She didn’t even offer to help. I did purchase the wine key but this was not ok. They also charged me an extra $4.99 good thing I realized before she did. I feel racially profiled, the other people that was in the store was not treated like I was. If your of color stay away they called a police officer in the store. That...
