When signing a lease for a building, one of the things to consider, discuss, and possibly negotiate is the parking situation. Total square footage is a big one too. This business lacks heavy in both.
So, I found a spot and parallel parked in between cars. No signage/markings saying I couldn't and I was still about a block from where the coffee shop is. The "parallel park" part should be an important note too.
Anyways, I wait in the line and get my coffee, for there to be literally nowhere to sit. I specifically parked and ordered the coffee so I could get work done. It was hard to do that with nowhere to sit, nowhere to hear the other person on the other end of the phone, etc.
I finally got a spot and tried to get some work done. During that time, I got a nice ol' parking ticket, as did many other patrons. The lack of signage in this area is absolutely ridiculous. This trip to a coffee shop costed me over $100.
A good businessperson makes deals to ensure patrons can find adequate parking. Even if the parking costs something, there is several times that businesses make deals to validate it. You seriously can't expect people to Uber to your coffee shop or pay hundreds of dollars in parking tickets??
The vibe was cool, sure. But between the parking and the seating, it all left an extreme sour taste in my mouth. I am fully aware that the crooks in the flashing cars run the parking tickets. However, they chose the space that is causing everyone to hate their parking situation and go elsewhere. There is also lots of businesses that at least cover their patrons by having signage that discusses parking.
Unless you live in/around the building, I would strongly encourage people to go somewhere else. I have never had a citation or a parking issue with any other business...ever. With the city, you are guilty until proven innocent and even if you have proof, they still will refuse your appeal 9 times out of 10. I watched it happen to another friend of mine on the same day. No coffee...
Read moreThis coffee shop was the place to go during work breaks when it was still in the Hardware apartment buildings. I even introduced other friends to them because I loved it so much. Staff were down to earth and easy to get to know, they would remember your name and order, and the energy was positive and relaxing. However, after going a few times in the last couple of months, I’ve noticed a serious (negative) shift in quality of their drinks/food and their customer service. It feels like the priority has gone from quality service/food/drink to appealing to social media influencers, complete with an Instagram aesthetic tax on the products, resulting in overpriced mediocre quality. The staff are rushed and unpleasant to interact with because none of them seem to want to be there. I don’t blame them! All of the baristas I used to recognize and chat with have gone away, which makes me really sad. On top of that, the seating is minimal, the environment is too loud to focus or socialize, parking is inaccessible, and even if it’s slow, it takes at least 10-20 minutes to get one drink. I suggest finding another coffee shop to frequent - you’ll spend less money and get better quality somewhere else! They also close randomly and don’t update their apple/google maps hours so that can be really frustrating for people traveling to...
Read moreSunroom Coffee is truly one of the hidden gems of downtown Salt Lake! The moment you walk in, you're greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere - full of light, plants and that cozy, local charm that chain coffee shops just can't recreate. The drinks are consistently excellent and delicious, whether it's a perfectly crafted latte, a seasonal specialty, or one of their signature cold brews.
The baristas are friendly, professional, and genuinely passionate about what they do. You can tell they care about the customers and the quality of each drink. The owners clearly put a lot of thought into every detail - from the aesthetic and seating layout to the menu and exceptional service.
I've seen some recent negative reviews that don't reflect the true experience here. Like any small business, they've made a few staffing changes to maintain their high standards - and it really shows. The current team is hardworking, kind and focused on creating an amazing community spot.
If you're looking for a peaceful place to start your day, catch up with a friend, or just enjoy a great cup of coffee in a cozy sunlit space, SUNROOM COFFEE is absolutely...
