I had a very negative experience, during my last two visits as a result of being racially profiled, targeted, harassed, followed, and watched in this store by their men's department associate Nick.
During the first visit, Nick actually engaged and involved another customer ( a complete stranger to me) in the sport of keeping his eye on me as I shopped. Unfortunately for him, the patron he was talking to was a very bad whisperer, and I overheard his question to Nick "Is that him?" as I walked out of the men's fitting room. Apparently, I was so quick on my feet that he lost sight of me and enlisted the help of other shoppers to track my whereabouts. Because there is no better place to perpetuate outdated, racially charged stereotypes than in a department store. That was a very irresponsible action. What if that customer in some act of vigilance decided to approach me? Who would be held responsible if he had decided to go hands-on and gotten dragged out of there in a body bag?
The second time Nick reached out to the good ol' Bexar County Sherriff to participate in the festivities. I guess since there were so many people in the department he couldn't watch me and give the other patrons hassle-free customer service at the same time. His only concern for me was getting the items I had taken off of the rack out of my hands and onto the safe space of the register, at least then I wouldn't be able to leave the store without paying for those items. Ironically he didn't seem concerned about that existent threat from any of the other customers, who were allowed to shop unopposed. Because as we all know, the theft tendency is only present in Christian, good-looking, muscular, black men. Again, who would be held responsible if that situation escalated into something else as I (an innocent man shopping with his wife and two daughters) could have been approached by police for suspiciously shopping and holding items in my hand longer than you were comfortable with and I had gotten dragged out of there in a body bag?
Maybe in my future visits I should wear a bell around my neck so Nick can keep-a-watch of me, at least then he could hear me, know that I am still in the vicinity, and know that I haven't run off and risked my freedom and reputation over an $80 ball of cotton and polyester.
Nick,
I am writing this review because after speaking to both your direct reports and the store manager, I am hoping there will be a change in behavior and I will not have to escalate this up to the District Manager. I am hoping after your discussions that you will come out of this a different employee and this will be your learning experience.
Please stop harassing black men in your store, and I say your store very lightly, because you don't own Dillard's bro. You're an employee.
If you have asked if help is needed and are told no, then leave us alone and let us enjoy our shopping experience.
Your sorry excuse for an apology when your behavior is brought to your attention during my first visit doesn't suffice when you exhibit the same behavior a second time.
Repeated behavior demonstrates a pattern and a pattern demonstrates a habit. It begs the question how many of my beautiful chocolate brothers and sisters have you treated this way?
Well, you found the right one.
I also want this review to serve as accountability for you and I hope any customer that enters the department will watch you like you watched me and make sure you are being respectful of every customer that walks in your doors.

Read moreI always buy shoes from dillards and never had an issue UNTIL LIZ (short, fat, older Hispanic lady with grey/black hair and glasses) from shoes helped me, well not much of help, but did give alot of attitude and eye rolling... Every time I go in a associate will bring my shoes, check on me, see if they fit and take back the ones I didn't like themselves... well liz handed me my two boxes of shoes, never checked on me, never came back to see if I liked or dislike the shoes I ended up wanting to go with 1 of the 2 pairs so I went to look for her to ring me up since I know they get commission... she asked me "where is the other box of shoes is that I didn't want?" and i respond " they are on the chair" she tells me "you should have brought them back up here" along with an eye roll... never have I been told to do her job basically... all liz has to do is assist with customers having a great experience while purchasing from dillards. She failed to do that.. never have I been told to bring up the shoes I don't want to counter , normally the associate checks on me and takes back the shoes i don't want... she was not even busy and ARGUED with me about bringing the shoes up the counter instead of just going to get them herself and put them back... after that I told her I didn't want the shoes because she still continued on being rude about.. she lost a sale and north star mail dillards location lost my service from now on because of her... DON'T let LIZ help you find your shoes , unless you want attitude, eye rolls and pure laziness. Just horrible! That's not how you...
Read moreThe store is horrible. Every single person that goes in here comes to find clothes for an event or something along the lines of that and always request help from the associates⊠All associates on the third floor womenâs area all have an attitude except for one girl thatâs in Antonio Milani. I believe her name is Audrey. All the other women on the floor constantly are chitchatting and talking bad about one another as well as customers too. Main ones I have had this issue with and caught them in the act is are the ladies named Mari, Stephanie, Maria and Karen. Each of these ladies have an issue with doing any kind of returns for any clients. And instantly given an attitude to any customer that doesnât buy anything.
As a customer not only do I have an issue with the associates. I also have an issue with the manager, Mary. Mary has a horrible attitude where she acts like she is welcoming you and then as soon as you happen to anything other than what she was expecting you to ask, she gives you a big attitude. Mary is not welcoming manager neither is she a good associate.
Overall, the Dillards on Northstar is a horrible location and needs to work on their establishment as a whole. Nobody wants to work for or go to a store with rude employees and managers. I would give this location zero stars...
