The host took no time to seat my husband and I. Our waiter Christopher was very attentive & informative about the menu. It was our first time here and we where very lucky to have Christopher. My husband and I aren't to big about sushi but we wanted to see what the hype was a lot about. Even though we aren't that big of fans of finish the menu still had options for people who don't like finish (such as myself ). I had their Korean chicken spicy sandwich. It was spicy! I should of known that Asians do not play when it comes to spicy. I noticed that almost every dish came with a coleslaw type of side and I personally enjoyed it very much, but when they add their spicy sauce to the coleslaw and than to the sandwich it was very different for me! Good different! My husband had their ribs and those where... okay. Meat was well cooked and the sauce well.... Mhmmm us being in and from the the south we've had our far share of amazing ribs and notice that the sauce on the ribs makes the meal. Not bad but not the best. My husband really enjoyed their Japanese beer and even noted that, that beer has to be one of his new favourites. We also order a side of fried rice and really loved the pineapples in it. The fries that come with their plates, my husband referred them to as "healthy fries", Christopher did gave us the option of picking regular French fries and we decided that we liked those way better. The restaurant was busy so the restrooms where not completely always clean (women sometimes are just nasty), however when I mention that to Christopher the staff took no time to go in and do a quick up cleaning on it. Management came by ours and everyone's table to address any comments or considers. which in my opinion only ever happens in small restaurants so it was nice to see that management really cared go take the time to contact each customer even in a large chain restaurant. Staff was overall very kind and polite! Always smiled, always said hello and good bye and even made small talk so that small moment of interaction/waiting isn't awkward when they're working. I would go back with...
Read moreOn Thursday, June 24, I visited Kona Grill and explicitly informed my server about my severe food allergies: avocado and cucumber (linked to a documented latex allergy). The waitress assured me the allergy was noted on our ticket, and I trusted the restaurant would take precaution since it was noted. However shortly before leaving I started experiencing classic signs of an allergic reaction: my throat and the inside of my ears and nose began to itch. Realizing the danger, we left I developed a fine rash across my body , I took multiple doses of Benadryl, Zyrtec, and Pepcid in an attempt to control the reaction, but the swelling continued to worsen. Ultimately, I was forced to administer my EpiPen in the car this is a medication that is both costly and lifesaving. I also had to take the following day off to recover and ensure the reaction had fully subsided. This is not the first time I have had a reaction at Kona Grill (my last reaction at the La Cantera location was in 2018), but I had hoped in the years since that the restaurant’s allergy protocols had improved. Unfortunately, this experience shows they have not. What happened could have ended tragically. Allergic customers depend on restaurants to treat allergies with extreme caution and proper cross-contamination prevention. The fact that I still suffered a serious reaction after clearly communicating my allergies and that it escalated to needing emergency medication suggests that Kona Grill did not follow appropriate safety protocols. I love this restaurant, but this level of carelessness shows a disregard for customer safety and lives. Without my EpiPen and quick action, this could have resulted in death. I strongly urge Kona Grill to review and overhaul their allergy training and food handling practices immediately to prevent this from happening to anyone else. Allergies are life-threatening, and mistakes like this are unacceptable. No one has reached out to even ask if I was okay....
Read moreSo we missed the sign that said you had to have reservations prior. But they were very warm, welcoming and friendly and immediately seated us. It was just my husband and I. Our server Geoffrey was amazing. He introduced himself upon arrival to our table. He was very pleasant and personable. I love when servers introduce themselves it just makes for a more pleasant experience as they really care about you and the service they are going to provide you with. They say us in the way back. I didn't mind as we were away from ppl which gave us time to just us as a couple. We order drinks. I order the patio bubble found in picture below. It was alright. I didn't care to much for it. We then order the surf and turf with came with a choice of a protein entre along with green beans and a choice of miso whipped or crispy fingers. Not sure and we just didn't ask we decided to go with miso whipped. Which ended up being mashed potato. And we order the island butter ribeye medium cooked. It also came with a traditional option or Kona option of sushi. So we stuck with a basic shrimp tempura. Moving along It was a bit cold in the back but we didn't mind it to much. We carried on with our conversation and soon our food was brought to us. Everything was delicious and season just right. I must say the mashed potatoes needed salt and pepper but i like it more that way that just my taste preference. Over all and great experience. It's a bit pricey but the service and food were amazing. Thank you Geoffrey for your service. FYI: they do honor military discount...
