Update to review: Owner responded (misspelling my name sadly) and it does not seem like they thoroughly read my review. I did in fact go in person to pay in full by card. It's the fact that you're penalized by paying in full that is the reason for my low review. Paying in full by card for whatever reason doesn't give you the current special rate of the discounted monthly price as well as the current 15 cent enrollment fee. There's no excuse for a card being cancelled when they get all of the year upfront and that wouldn't affect my transaction.
I did a free seven day trial here and there are some pros but also so many cons. Itâs clean and there are a lot of cardio machines and a lot of duplicates of random floor machines. However, this gym is always what I consider to be busy in which I have to wait on machines - specifically lower body machines. I even went during the times they told me were the least busy, and I still felt like it was kind of busy. The parking lot is OK, spaces are tight, but the most frustrating thing and the reason for my rating is that they have a promo going on on the entire brand website saying that if you do a 12 month commitment for any of their plans, there is only a $.15 enrollment fee. I tried to sign up on their website but it requires a bank account to pay the monthly fee, and I do not want to give a gym my bank information. I called and asked if I could just pay the entire year in full with credit card and they said absolutely you can. I showed up today and the girl who helped me said that their system automatically just defaults to making you Pay $19.99 per month instead of the special rate of $15.99 cents per month and it makes you pay a $99 enrollment fee. Instead of being rewarded, or at least not penalized for paying in full this was extremely disappointing. I even showed her on the website that if you select the 12 month commitment for the basic plan that there is the special rates and she just said, essentially their system just makes you pay all this extra stuff when you want to pay in full. I donât know why they would need to extract more money out of me above the special rate offered plainly online when theyâre getting all their...
Read moreI'm coming up on almost a year of consistently coming to this gym and it's been great.
Yes, it is a bit small and gets a bit busy after work hours, but it makes sense given its central location so it's to be expected. People who come to work out here are generally pretty courteous; there are a few who hog the machines but honestly that issue isn't as prevalent here as it is at other gyms I've been to.
The equipment selection is decent. It's not the most comprehensive selection ever but you'll definitely have enough options to get a good workout in. Lots of cardio machines to choose from though they do tend to get busy around 4-6pm. There are 2 separate turf areas to choose from which is nice, and one has TRX straps. It's also not the most modern equipment but gets the job done, and they do a pretty good job keeping it well maintained.
Parking right next to the gym building can be really tough during peak hours, but you can easily park in the overflow parking they have at the hotel next door if it's really crowded, so I don't understand the bad reviews in that aspect. It's not a bad walk by any means.
The staff here has been awesome the whole time; they probably don't know my name/recognize me but they are always really friendly and say hello & goodbye. I've seen some people complain about them being chatty with each other which I think is silly, it's good to have comradery with your coworkers and gives the gym a friendly vibe. Plus, they'll stop their conversations to help you out with no issue. They are also constantly cleaning the floors/equipment and refilling cleaning cloths which is great.
I struggled to find somewhere I was comfortable working out before giving this Chuze a try. I'm grateful to the staff for giving the gym a very chill vibe and making me feel more comfortable while continuing my fitness journey....
Read moreI'm not a "gym" person by any stretch. I'd gone to a gym maybe half a dozen times in the last ten years before I decided that it was time to finally lose weight and get healthy. I did some research into local gyms and Chuze had a lot of things going for it, including that it was open early and it was a very short drive from my home. I went in to sign up and found the staff to be polite and helpful, guiding me through a process that, through no fault of their own, was a little more convoluted than it needed to be.
I've been going about 5 times a week since I signed up, and I can say that even though I definitely do not feel terribly comfortable in my own skin, this place is the right place for me. They have plenty of cardio machines and weight machines, as well as expansive 'turf' areas for free weights and resistance bands (I think), etc. I'm always greeted by name when entering and leaving, which is a nice touch.
Apart from the staff and the amenities, the other gym goers have also been a positive experience. A major concern I had was with being 'in the way' for people who knew what they were doing, but I haven't felt that way at all. People tend to give each other space and seem willing to share machines/weights/etc.
This gym has hydromassage, an infrared sauna, a smoothie bar, and space for group classes (although at the time I go, I have not seen classes take place), none of which I have used so far so I can't review.
I've heard parking can get a little hairy because it's kind of a small lot, but so far I haven't had any trouble. Your mileage may vary at peak times.
Overall, great gym equipment, good experience, and...
