While shopping at the Mission Valley Target location on Monday 10/23/2023, I parked right near the "Wine & Spirits" entrance because there's more parking there, it's much faster to check-out as you avoid the long lines at the front of the store checkout area! ...
I've used this entrance several times in the past, thus I am completely aware of when that entrance "opens and when it closes" along with the Self-Check-Out area...
Target management has posted a sign on both sides of the main doors for customers to notice "THE DOOR HOURS." (see attached photo).
I entered through those doors at 7:15 PM and at 7:34 PM I approached the Wine & Spirits check-out area only to observe 2 Target Employees turning off the self checkout lights and had ALREADY Blocked The self-check out entrance line.. THE EXIT DOORS were also LOCKED as well!! They had the EXIT blocked...
One of the Target employees was a shorter older woman (a KAREN) who I've seen there many times before working. She was already walking away when I approached her & asked "is the self checkout still open?" The women said, "NO we're closed, you have to go to the front of the store," very bluntly!!
Before I could explain to her that the SIGN on the door said that the checkout area/doors does not CLOSE till 8 PM, she was already walking away.... You could tell that she was irritated as she appeared if I was almost an interruption to whatever she was going to do!! ...
The other younger caucasian male employee heard the conversation I had with his fellow female employee. He & I made eye contact, he looked a bit "embarrassed" then he put his head down & turned the other way and left.
TARGET MANAGEMENT: When you have a sign posted on the your entrance doors with the door hours of operation, then STICK TO IT and stop MISLEADING your customers, this was truly irritating as I had a wait in line with approximately 12 people in front of me to eventually check out 19 minutes later at the other side of the store!!
As for the 2 Target employees I described within this review, I suggest their Target SUPERVISOR have a one on one conversation with them, then WRITE THEM UP! ... This type of behavior should not...
ย ย ย Read moreThe Target Store in the Mission Valley West Shopping Center is one of the largest of 27 Target Stores in San Diego County. I prefer this particular store because it has two large mainfloors-street level and upstairs-that have just about most any type of basic merchandise/living needs that you would need for your home. Their grocery section is stocked with everything that a single person or small family should need to stock their cabinets, shelves and refrigerator for several weeks; a huge selection of frozen foods, dairy products, breads, canned foods, soft drinks, juices and teas, kitchen products and much more. The prices of their goods are quite competitive compared to large supermarkets and in most cases much lower. If you have a large family, the you might want to try major supermarket chains like Vons, Ralph's or Albertsons which primarily specialize in food/drink products. This Target has a very large children's, men's and women's clothing section, shoe section and all their styles are brand named low to moderately priced. There is a nice well stocked pet food and supplies section. They have a whole section of baby and children's clothing, toys and other supplies like strollers and carriages. They sell school and office supplies, men's and women's body products-razors, talcum powder, soap, etc. If you are looking for everyday home living products, then this is the store to go to. They have all types of kitchen supplies and appliances. They have a nice electronics section with video games, cameras, televisions and myriad other accessories. You can find a large selection of greeting cards, a small jewelry, watch and sunglass display, etc.,etc.,etc. If you are looking for building products, specialized paints and tools, try Home Depot There is plenty of parking, hand carts and baskets and friendly associates most willing to help you, as well as cashiers and a self check out...
ย ย ย Read moreThis is by FAR the worst Target I've ever been to in regards to the check-out process. It's the most consistently headache-inducing experience, and you'll likely end up waiting in line to check out here line than however long you were shopping for. Idk why they close their self checkout so much, but more than half the time, the self checkouts on either end of the store a closed. So you're forced to use a regular line. Which honestly, cool! If you're trying to give people more jobs or something, I could get behind that! But 2 problems with that here: a) they don't have nearly enough employees manning the cash registers at any given time. Usually there's no more than 4 open, max, and 2 of them will be "express" lanes with 10 items or less only. And b) they NEED to do some serious training here or something. They are the SLOWEST imaginable people you could get to operate a cash register! They're usually senior citizens which really doesn't help. And then I'll see 2 or 3 younger employees in the aisles talking to themselves like are they not qualified to operate one of these cash registers??? Idk, it just seems to me like whoever manages and assigns duties to people here genuinely doesn't know what they're doing l, doesn't know their people or their strengths/weaknesses, and doesn't know how to properly train people. It's awful! Like I get hating your job and being unmotivated, but I honestly don't even get that vibe most the time. It genuinely just feels like extreme incompetence is the culture of this store! It's such a terrible experience that I honestly feel like giving this place 2 stars is being too nice. I may update it to 1 in the future but I'm trying to be nice and there are some nice things here. Like the selection of food here and the fact that it's usually not expired (but...
