Highly recommend. This feels a bit strange posting a review in English rather than Spanish, but if you are reading this, you probably want to learn Spanish. This school works! I learned some Spanish in high school many years ago, but as many know, continuing to learn anything other than English in the US school system is futile. Casa Hispana filled this gap. My later-in-life motivation began after purchasing a popular computer package, which was a great foundation builder, but didn't provide the personal interaction inherent in Casa Hispana. The lessons are structured around learning proper grammar, such as proper tenses of verbs, while at the same time learning additional vocabulary and practicing verbal skills with others. As with any school or education, you get out of it what you put into it. I think I continue to take classes at Casa Hispana because the instructors are great, classes are small, and the other students are well-engaged. If you want to increase your learning curve, you need to go to class. Oh, and just like college, you pay in advance here, so if you skip a class you haven't prearranged, it will hurt your pocketbook, as well as your learning. Again, if you're serious about learning,...
Read moreLoving my time so far at Casa Hispana! I'm learning a lot and Sonia, the instructor, really makes classes worth it for me. I attend in the evenings after work, so I'm usually pretty tired, but her energy makes the classroom doable after a full work day. Also I'm amazed at her ability to speak only in Spanish to novice speakers. I spoke 0 Spanish before this class but have had no trouble following her all-Spanish instruction.
All in all after 6 weeks I feel like I'm understanding and speaking with so much more confidence. Obviously this course isn't magic and I'm not suddenly able to understand and speak Spanish all at once. But it's progress, and faster than some of my CH classmates report from their time at Spanish 101 City College and UCSF. Small classes, lots of practice, great instructor!
Also, doable commute from anywhere in the city on...
Read moreMy review comes as a teacher who worked here for 17 years! The team is amazing, very commited to language teaching and a unique take on teaching. Teachers are warm, profesional and make the classes fun. Some students come for a quick refresher before a trip and others stay for years. Classes are not only classes but a social experience to meet new people and enjoy speaking in Spanish. Working there was like being with a large family. Students who come are among the best people I have met. I was so lucky to belong to this family and still belong. I believe this is the place to...
