Trees are Fantastic for humans and environments - But not when they are managed by all action and scant thought. Every tree costs the home owner: They cost money. We paid $180, and that was 10 years ago, and we had a "choice" of 1 of 5 non-native trees. Why the push for non-native in this day and age? The tree has never done well, due to little sun and beaten by high winds) Home owner's should exercise caution that any tree they accept is a Thoughtful Choice in terms of the specific street location. You should also be wary about the amount of concrete being "cut" and how and by whom, it is cut. In my view, the cutting is unprofessional and sloppy, with cuts being left for weeds to grow rampant thereby making the concrete vulnerable to crumbling. Which it does. The cut-outs are also getting much larger these days and many trees are planted leaving less than two concrete slabs-of width for the pedestrian and strollers to use. The enlarged size tree plots also provide more area for trash to collect and for all the weeds Who is going to weed all these trees now? Not every tree planted is cared about because it is not wanted. It's like abandoning a perfectly good plant or consider it is a dog, and it has to fend for itself. And most likely it cannot do it. Lack of water and appropriate weather conditions are a problem. I am disappointed in FUF and wish I didn't get a tree. Sure, its nice to clear concrete for rain water absorption, but at what cost? Instead of beautifying the sunset district its making it more messy and uncared for. Just take a walk down lower Irving street sometime and you can see how trees are abandoned.

Why do people support stuff like this? I LOVE PLANTS BUT NOT WHEN IT DISRUPTS RESIDENCE. San Francisco does not need stuff like this there are so many other things money should go towards and its not ripping up the concrete, and planting dumb non native urban trees in DOWNTOWN of all places. I even have photos which I uploaded to the review. First off the trees they plant are perfect places for rats to congregate in. i wonder if these volunteers even live in SF I know they do not so I HIGHLY DOUBT IT. as they would realize how dumb this is. Now they planted a tree in front of my apartment. Not only do people now stand in front of it at all hours of the day since its so close to my window right next to my bed to let their dogs go to urinate. People use it as a restroom for their dogs and other purposes. Tree is rotting away, yellowing. Bark is all over the side walk. People use it as a garbage can and bathroom! Do you think this makes the city prettier? angering residences with noise pollution, and then having it make things uglier! Look at the photo I provided. I love being woken up by people who are entitled and have dogs while I am a struggling student with classes now you have made me not want to live at my home. I wish this tree and this space you guys created get filled in! WHY DID YOU DO THIS? WHY? I do not support this group. THANK YOU FOR THE GARBAGE DUMP AND HORSEFLIES AND BEETLES I AM NOW SUFFERING WITH. Appreciate it. Lived here 5 years never had any problems like this until they installed this tree a few weeks ago. Fill the area back with concrete!

I agree with the person below me. This organization does not truly care about the residents whose homes they are disrupting, although they claim to. I am handicapped and they are planting a tree right outside of my home. Of course when I reached out, they say they don't need my permission. How would they like it if we came to their homes and started planting whatever we wanted? This is ridiculous and a reason why San Francisco has changed for the worse. I am from here and have lived in my home since I was a child. I am 67. Be more authentically respectful and stop disrupting residents and their...
