Kayo Books — Local services in San Francisco

I am sure it was a good bookstore to visit in previous years but, that is no longer true. Don't bother wasting your time making an appointment to see the store. All you get to peruse are the few books in the lobby near the front door and cash register. You do not get to look at the whole store. There was very little to look at. Had a great experience here. Ron was very accommodating on the phone and Maria was also very accommodating in person. Lots of interesting crime novels to see. Regret not going for the rare Charles Willefords I saw. Bought a few cheaper books: Breakout by Richard Stark, Maigret and the Apparition by Georges Simenon and The Big Heat by William McGivern (the latter two were recommended by Maria). I agree with a review written by Bonnie Stone. The store no longer has regular hours and it's a fraction if it's original size with most of it partitioned off by curtains. It never had that great of a selection to begin with, though it did have a nice selection of vintage gay magazines. The vintage paperback I purchased with it's highly acidic paper quickly disintegrated upon reading and I certainly didn't buy it for its...
