Skip and Joe were incredible to work with. I brought in a late 60s US Navy Flight jacket that needed some work done. The elastic bands that had previously been replaced by a different leather worker/restorer were.. well far too tight. Skip and the tailor took time to look how the jacket sat on me and how it should sit. They took note of my issues with it and any corrections I wanted to make. Skip even suggested some solutions to problems I hadn't even considered like light shoulder padding to fix shoulder drooping due to "hanger burn".

A week later I went to pick up the jacket and the elastic had been loosened but maybe a hair too much. Additionally, there was still some odd movement of the bi-swing back that I just knew I couldn't ignore. I asked them to keep it another week and make more revisions.

Well, I picked it up just last week and it's phenomenal. The elastic in the back is great and engages just at the end of my movement. Not too tight, not too loose. The pleats on the bi-swing back are nice and straight. It's nearly perfect and I intend to return (when money and schedule permit) to have just a few more alterations done. I had an alteration on a Vanson leather jacket that no one in the entire East Bay and Peninsula could help me with, but the team here exceeded my expectations. The owner (Skip) is incredible—super knowledgeable, friendly, and dedicated to ensuring customer satisfaction. Joe, too, is amazing and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect.

I had no intentions of buying a leather jacket from them, but just because of this experience, I'll be buying a few and sharing them when I'm back to traveling overseas full-time again in a few months. If you need anything leather, this is the place to go. Their leather jackets are absolutely beautiful, stylish, high-quality, one-of-kind, a family heirloom worthy piece. Highly recommended!

Can't say enough good things about Joe and Skip at West Coast leather.I was gifted a leather jacket from a good friend that was way too small for me. I brought it to West Coast leather to have it copied in my size. The whole process was smooth and Skips attention to detail asking all the right questions about what I wanted about the details of the jacket stood out. They identified the leather as "newlook" and off they sent the jacket to have it made. The jacket came back with the expectation that we'd have to do some small alterations for a perfect fit. When I finally got the jacket I couldn't been more pleased with how it turned out with alot of credit going to Joe and Skip for having the experience of custom jacket making. Even with the perfect fitting jacket, Skip offers that anytime in the next month or so as I'm getting used it it, if there are any changes I need to make, they would take care of it.
