My now 14 year old daughter did 1 week at Aqua Surf in summer 2019 when she was 12 after attending a more general beach camp for years (that she was outgrowing) and just after she had done 5 days of surf lessons in Hawaii--her first real baby steps into surfing at spring break 2019. She had the bug and just wanted to go back to Aqua Surf for the summer of 2020 -- all summer. That was such a difficult summer due to Covid and they and we had to have patience and no one was perfect but she came through it wanting a surf board for her fall birthday and to improve. We got her a surf board and signed her up for private weekly lessons through late fall, winter and early spring. They canceled on me when it wasn't safe to go out, traded in her wetsuit (we bought through them in summer 2020) for one that fit more snuggly for winter surfing, with the entire experience really giving her confidence not just in surfing but life. She did the spring break camp in 2021 and has now done 6 weeks this summer so far. While there are lots of kids at different ages and levels and it takes time to learn to surf (it is not an easy sport), they have done a wonderful job in encouraging her and helping her get better. She is away this week (where there is no surfing) but I texted her today to say she is signed up for next week and her immediate response was: "I CAN'T...
Read moreWe can't emphasize the importance of DNA - AquaSurf isn't just same-o local shop, it's a world class professional Californian fun beach spot go-to. Our son started summer camp and enjoyed it so much his 1st week of summer camp that he did a 2nd week and now wants to participate on weekend mornings. He was met with a flexible team of personalized coaches daily, fun camp mates, and a safe environment on the waters. Although the ability to swim fluently isn't a prerequisite, our son learned quickly how important that is on the waters for him personally -- another bonus on his swim lessons afterwards were met with focus. We highly recommend AquaSurf.
Did you know the 1st morning 20min sun supplies vitamin D for the rest of the day! All participants had a healthy dose the entire 2 weeks during warm ups. Overall, we felt a sense of family just like the good-o-Santa Monica beach scenes. Gratitude to Dylan, Max and the entire...
Read moreAqua Surf is our go to camp in LA! My son has enjoyed coming to Aqua Surf over the past few years. He loves going with friends or dropping in solo. It's a comfortable and relaxed setting for experienced and beginner students. The instructors understand the needs of each surfer depending on level of experience as well as their individual personality. I appreciate the flexibility of the program as often times we sign up last minute and squeeze in a week of camp or day or two of surfing in between other activities. Sign up can happen easily online or the staff is available by phone to help you out promptly and efficiently. Thank you to all the staff in the office and on the water for accommodating our crazy schedule and last minute requests. For busy families, who occasionally leave the house in a rush, they supply everything---including the sunscreen (for purchase). The Santa Monica location is also super easy to drop off...
