They didn’t bother to tell us the room we had booked was no air conditioning at all we traveled from ky to Cali and had the worst experience here. We didn’t stay but an all of 5 mins & left. The lady at the front desk also didn’t book us in under my reservation she went ahead and booked a WHOLE NEW reservation under our names for the entire weekend!!! All without telling us! How can you even double book a room ?! You sure can’t do it online when the rooms already booked so she definitely purposely charged us for a full weekend stay. We couldn’t breathe in the room it was hotter in the room then it was outside. I told the man I get it if he had to charge us for one night due to the inconvenience and not being informed the room didn’t have air conditioning. The man didn’t even refund the wrongfully charged weekend stayed he only refunded 460$ out of 1,500$ they charged us for a room we didn’t stay but 5 mins in… these people are wrong & know they’re wrong for wrongfully not informing people there’s no air conditioning. Still arguing with him to this day I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless you like heat and no air ventilation. -10000/10 for us. They did us very wrong. No where on the front desk or anywhere does it say some rooms may have air and some may not! Don’t let them scam you like they did us and double book you as well ! The owner won’t own up to the false charges neither just keeps insisting that I myself double booked which is IMPOSSIBLE to do over the phone online IT WON’T LET YOU BOOK THE ROOM 2x!! Especially one we had done purchased. The front desk lady in fact charged us for a whole weekend stay that WE DIDN’T ASK for. We needed the room for ONE night this is how I know they’re scamming people then using the ā€œpolicyā€ as reasoning you can’t be refunded. Even on a wrongfully charged room he only refunded the one night stay not a whole 3 days we didn’t even stay there nor did we book ourselves a weekend stay. It makes no sense of us to book ourselves a weekend stay and then just a nights stay IN THE SAME ROOM I don’t know why this man is so rude about money being wrongfully taken. Still currently trying to get our bank to be able to dispute the charges considering how wrong this situation is. Just sick people definitely not your kind local people ! I guess the hotel is seriously hurting for money so just beware!

Was very disappointing after high rating on Expedia and the designation of parking in the Google description, which is not true, with no option to correct. We stayed in room 3, the large "beachview" room which was all loud and echoing with all wood flooring, and a non insulated ceiling, while their was so much outside and lobby noise all night long even though the lobby door also has a code. They do provide 2 sets earplugs for a room of 4 but I cannot sleep with those anyways. You could hear the door open and closing past 2 am and you can't hear the beach or waves crashing It is a long walk to the water and the view is obstructed by boardwalk, parking lot and poles and not safe to go outside yourself, morning or night Blinds do not have the option to raise facing the beach only to open and close and windows do not open at all. But you mostly keep the blinds closed so you don't have bums or bypassers peeking in as you're only just slightly above street level, facing the water and at street level on the side. We watched a bum try to steal two bikes from a guy, yelling and screaming right outside our windows and he then pulled a hammer out if his backpack to follow him down the street😳 We did not use the playground for this reason, only went out to watch the sunset and spent the rest of our time in our room. Thankfully we did not have issues, with heat, AC or TV. The room was not a true full beach view, it was a parking lot and bum view.. Water was turned off by city during stay at 9 am, so we checked out early šŸ˜’ Parking garage is not owned by hotel and is a 5 minute walk across a busy street(110 navy st) at $20 a night, you must pay attendant ahead and get a receipt to put in your vehicle. Take everything you need in one trip and don't go out unless you have to. Closer overnight parking not affiliated with hotel is uncovered and $60 a night but also still a few blocks walk Small kitchen with gas stove, fridge, microwave and dishwasher but bring your own food ahead or chance having it delivered because it's not safe to walk the surrounding city streets, Uber eats has trouble finding you and food gets coldšŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø not worth the cost to stay here and feeling unsafe, so very lackluster after seeing the photos they show šŸ˜–

Everything everyone is complaining about is pretty much listed on their website, which I took the time to peruse: no hotel parking, $250 refundable deposit, it actually says it will be loud due to the surrounding bars, restaurants, nightlife, and the fact that’s it’s ON THE BUSY TOURISTY BOARDWALK, the building is 1920’s OLD but nicely & comfortably updated, no air conditioning only fans and cool ocean breezes. This is not a 5 star hotel, but they don’t claim to be. If you want 5 star, look in Santa Monica. Venice Beach and Boardwalk does have many homeless, vagrants, and tweekers, but that is not the hotel’s fault (do some research and know the area you are visiting). There are police patrolling everywhere in the surrounding areas and on the beach and I did not feel unsafe at all, but I’m from Chicago so maybe I’m used to all that. The miles of Boardwalk has many touristy shops and food areas to get quick bites, as well as some great dine-in restaurants and outdoor patios. There’s a great skate park, the beach not crowded at all, pretty secluded actually, it’s beautiful and vast and cleaned everyday, with miles of bike & running paths. We walk around for miles everyday. There are many bike rental places around too. You cannot enter the hotel without being buzzed in or without a key code, so we felt secure. The hotel staff was friendly and very helpful. It was loud from the streets and surrounding bars/restaurants until about 10 pm each night, but our stay was during the weekdays (not sure how the weekends fair). The public beach and parking lot just outside the hotel opens at 6:00 am so it starts to get loud early on. My room was a corner ocean view, on the top floor (6th floor), very spacious, all the windows opened for great ocean breezes, June’s highs were in the 60s so not having air conditioning wasn’t a problem, it was very clean (nothing smelled anywhere), and it was beyond perfect for the budget price. We booked online directly with the hotel and got a greater discount than any of the prices on the all the travel sites.

This place is an absolute mess. Save your money and go somewhere else. Do not be fooled by the pictures they have posted to their website. The rooms look nothing like what they have posted and are dirty, stuffy and hot. The first day my boyfriend and I were there someone tried to brake into our room and when we told the front desk they did nothing to resolve the situation. We ended up leaving and staying elsewhere but still got charged for all three nights. I have been trying to resolve this issue with AIR Venice for three weeks now and still have not heard back from their manager,Paul. He is always conveniently unavailable. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone.

update: Here is the email that my boyfriend and I got back from Paul at AIR Venice and our response: I have never been to an establishment where the blame is placed on the PAYING customer.

From: Air Venice Sent: March 10, 2016 at 7:47 PM Subject: Re: Update : AIR Venice on the Beach (558.236.375) Dear Guest, Unfortunately we cannot refund this reservation. I understand you were made uncomfortable and felt your room didn't match pictures you saw online, but we could have addressed these issues had you asked for a resolution instead of informing the front desk you were leaving. I'm sorry I could not resolve the issue to your satisfaction.

To: Air Venice Sent: March 10, 2016 at 10:30 PM Subject: Re: Update : AIR Venice on the Beach (558.236.375) Paul, As my girlfriend said, per your phone conversation, the fact that the blame is being placed on the patron is unacceptable. If a resolution was possible, your staff should have taken an initiative to try and resolve the issue, especially when the patron had expressed feeling unsafe in your establishment. The fact that this issue has not been taken seriously and you have chosen to placate the situation is not only appalling but insulting.

We have taken all the appropriate steps to try and resolve this issue and it seems that you are more interested your bottom line. I suggest, employing better training for your staff in dealing with future issues, placing security cameras in the hallways ( so that you can keep records of who is coming in and out of the property. The fact that you were asking my girlfriend to identify who walked into our room is baffling to me), take new photos that properly represent the state of your property and come up with protocol so that staff and yourself have a point of reference when it comes to dealing with issues raised by patrons.

I'm disappointed that this issue was not able to be resolved and I hope that no one else has the experience what me and my girlfriend had...
