The Hotel is reasonably priced and a great value. This place is a gem with beautiful rooftop views throughout the day which are even more spectacular at night. The room my wife and I stayed in had a view of the Santa Monica Pier. The rooms are small but you are staying only feet away from the iconic Venice Boardwalk. You will feel compelled to spend little time in the room. Rooms have solid surface floors which are clean and comfortable beds. My wife is picky but she slept well. The bathrooms are small but this is not the Four Seasons. The parking is a negative 5 stars so even if you are a pro between the lines don't waste your time. It is impossible. Save a few bucks and park a few blocks away at one of the many overnight parking garages where you can not only save money but have in and out privileges with reserved spots during your stay. Once parked you can spend days up and down between Santa Monica and Venice enjoying every new scooter you select. We had a wonderful mini trip from San Diego for an unforgettable weekend at a location which lived up to and exceeded expectations. Any complaints about the lack of a great breakfast ring silly. There is no omelette station nor should there for the value price you are being charged to stay a simple hop / skip and jump from the boardwalk. Have fun. Cadillac is killer and the staff is nice. By all means it is probably not a hotel for kids. Venice is not Anaheim. Happy travels.

The young man at the front desk was very helpful and the beach is super close but everything else is pretty bad. The rooms are old and horribly outdated with stained carpet. The windows don't stay up and the rooms have no air conditioning but do have a ceiling fan. And everything smells like weed, hallways, elevator, everything! The noise outside, oh my god. It went on all night and just when I thought the cafe music torture was over, people start yelling in the next room over. Paper thin walls and ceiling, we could hear people walking the roof after hours. The parking, forget it! It's nearly impossible to park there but the young man up front showed me other lots. The $8 boutique fee is total BS, they have no boutique and no reason for this fee. This hotel could easily renovate and charge more, 1 night cost me $190 in a total slum hotel. I'm very surprised I did not get bed bugs.

Ocean front gets a 5, excellent location , steps to the beach for a walk or day at the beach. Room was very clean, although old style which contributed to it's character n surroundings, Venice board walk also in front of hotel, Santa Monica pier within walking distance, no need to move your parked car, rooftop site beautiful views. Breakfast was ok, could have had more choices, but all staff was courteous and friendly. I would definitely return. Many restaurants within walking short distance either at side of hotel or short walking distances. Some homeless but only in certain areas near boardwalk, but not unsafe. Totally enjoyed our stay and the beach footsteps away was amazing.

This will be a long review, if you'd like the short version, scroll to the bottom. First, my daughter and I arrived at around 8:30-9 at night. There was no parking in the hotel parking lot. We drove around for awhile looking for safe and close parking. I ended up having to pay more money for a public lot that was close. This is not by fault of the hotel, just giving people a heads up if you arrive later at night. Next, the hotel said they did not have my reservation. I showed them my two night confirmation from Groupon. I was able to stay one night, but they were booked for the second night of my stay. I was told that I will be receiving a refund. The gentleman at the first desk was very nice and apologetic. At check-in, a photocopy was made of my ID and card, which I thought was weird, but at this point I was frustrated and tired. We were "upgraded" since our reservation didn't show and he waived the boutique fee. The room was pretty big because it was a family room. It had a full kitchen, king bed, and bunk bed. The bathroom was renovated and nice. As stated in previous reviews, the carpet was dirty and/or old. My view from the window was of the building (pictured below). You need to keep the window open since there was no AC, but I knew this from reading the website. However, there was a lot of yelling and music, which was annoying for my child and me. We went to sleep just fine, though. Before checkout we went to the rooftop, which was absolutely beautiful, as long as you don't look straight down into the commune of homeless that are right outside the hotel entrance. The elevator wasn't working in the morning, so we lugged our stuff down the stairs. The gentleman at checkout (which was a different guy than the previous night) was a little rude when I asked about any cancellations for the night and then my refund, more like he had other stuff to do. Overall, the stay would have been great if I was there for a girls' weekend or with friends, but for a family outing it wasn't the best. My daughter was a little freaked out with the neighborhood at night. I need to mention that the next day I received a call from my bank about fraudulent charges to my card from two different gas stations in the area I was at (I did not get gas anywhere in LA). I called the hotel to ask about the procedure with my card being copied by the concierge and was told that is customary and the copy is shredded after the guest checks out. But, it seemed too coincidental. Just be aware. So, the rating of a 2: decent hotel, great rooftop view, sketchy area at night, ugly room view for me, noisy, elevator issues, not very family friendly,...

Met the most uncourteous reception staff at 11.37 pm last night (Wednesday, July 4th) I try not to drink bottled water and rather prefer to drink fountain water or warm water .We have bottled water in the room for $3.50 plus taxes each (overpriced!!!) .I sent my son to ask for a water fountain or a place to get water as we had a sheet in the room saying cold water can be requested at the reception. The guy said they do not have any other water except the bottled water in the room. I went down to talk to him showing him the sheet that said cold water can be requested from reception. The guy said that "cold water" referred to cold bottled water. I informed him that we have been travelling all around california and even in the motels, they at least kept some sort of coffee machine or water fountains for guests who do not wish to drink bottled water. My son and I were talking very softly, respectfully and politely to this young man. At this point he flipped and said he couldnt believe that we had stormed down showing him the sheet of paper (the sheet of paper is kept in the room and we just wanted to refer to it while asking our queries) ,bending towards him on his reception table (im surprised that as a big man that intimated him) and yelling at him (my son and I were talking respectfully but maybe he's just a lil oversensitive). I was shocked as this guy who we were were being so respectful and polite to was blaming us in return!!!!Told him it was my fault as I did not check whether free drinking water was offered at this hotel. If i had known i would have certainly stormed out and never in my wildest dreams would stay at this inhospitable place with disrespectful rude staff. Instead of shifting the blame on people and getting easily offended/scared from someone asking a question, learn a thing or two...

Gorgeous! Don't let the bad reviews push you away. This place is not the Hilton. If that's what you're looking for or have expectations for, stay there. If you're expecting caviar brought to you on a pillow with vallet parking and basically, a new high class hotel, don't stay here. This is a beautiful vintage building with so much character and history in it. The staff was friendly upon entering the gorgeous entryway made of glass tiles and glass doors. When walking to our room the hallway door was open to a view of the ocean and an amazing fresh sea salt breeze that was almost cold. The room was spacious and clean and surprisingly had a modern touch to it, despite the age of the hotel. The window was open and you could once again feel the breeze and hear the sounds of Venice Beach down below regardless that the window is visually blocked by the building next to you, but also adds to the character of the hotel. The carpets had some stains on them but were very far from "dirty." It's very clear they have aged over time but were soft and very clean. There was roof top access to relax, smoke Cali's finest ;) and watch the sunset over the Venice Beach Boardwalk. The hotel is ON the boardwalk, might I add. This is California. There are homeless people outside. They are not dangerous. Maybe annoying because they ask for money, but not violent. This is part of the California culture and you will not get away from it anywhere you go in a tourist spot or bigger city. Overall I would HIGHLY recommend staying here if you want to stay in a very reasonably priced, historical, clean, building on the ocean and get a real taste of California. Thank you for the enjoyable stay, my boyfriend and I were simply blown away. We couldn't have found a more...
