I just got back from vacation with my parents and my friend who we took, and decided to check the reviews because me and my friend (we’re both minors) were accused of shop lifting, on the last day we were there me and my friend went back into the toy store (after we already spent almost 100 dollars there earlier that trip) to grab her a charm she put back the first day but still wanted, immediately after we walked in the woman at the cash register started eyeing us and the next thing we knew the worker who was stalking the shelves started following us around, we had just come from the arcade with my dad so we were carrying a lot of toys my dad bought a bag to take them back to the hotel while we shopped and while my friend was putting down her stuff (including the charm) onto a box (which the other worker saw her do) to put the arcade stuff into the bag when she picked up the charm it fell into her sleeve (of course we didnt know it at the time), so once my dad left we went up to the cash register to pay, (my friend found some blind boxes she wanted), when we get up to the register the lady tells us to give her the charm in which we were both confused and i turn to my friend to ask her where the charm is and thats when she realized she didnt have it we looked around the store and then thought it mustve slipped in the bag my dad have in which thats when the lady stopped us from exiting the store, i called my dad multiple times without an answer, i’d like to say that once we thought it slipped into the bagged i immediately offered to pay for it in which she responded with no and continued to block the exit, this made me anxious since this was my first time every being accused of something this horrendous so i was pretty much freaking out as all she was doing was yelling at us about the charm, my friend even offered for her to search her bag since she noticed the lady eyeing it in which the lady also responded with a no, around halfway through me calling my dad my friend feels the charm in her sleeve so she pulls it out to attempt to tell the cashier (or owner we couldn’t tell) that she still had it in which she couldn’t because the lady wouldn’t let her get out a single word, she then ended up taking us back up to the cash register complaining about how I could possibly steal in front of my dad and how he must be so embarrassed, in which she asks which charm it was (even though all the charms were the same price which is why i thought me offering to pay for it wouldn’t have been a problem since she knew the price already) in which my friend hands her the charm she accused us of stealing that we had the entire time. we ended up paying for the charm (i have the receipt) and one of the two blind boxes my friend wanted because she wouldn’t allow us to buy the other for some reason. in which she then kicked us out and banned us (which i dont think will last since we dont live there anyways) i immediately called my mom and told her everything so she drove to pick us up, i wish i knew more about how to handle a situation like this but as I said this was my first time i’ve ever been accused of shoplifting, just know that it is illegal for them to hold you in the store if they dont have full proof that you stole from them, and if she had proof we did she wouldn’t have let us pay for anything and would’ve just kicked us out. this was the worst experience i’ve ever had me and my friend are perfectly fine just extremely angry and regretful knowing we could’ve done something about it, however it was our last day there so it...
Read moreSad to have to add to everyone else’s poor experience at this toy store, but our family was basically ran out of there this afternoon by the owner or manager or whoever this guy is. Our daughter is almost 2, and as regular frequenters here in Seaside, we had wanted to start a tradition to get our daughter a new stuffed animal at this shop each time we visited (we bought her stuffed animals here in the past without incident). Maybe the owner can chime in here, but is this actually a toy store intended for children or is it just for looks? Lol Because you have all your toy cars on the bottom shelf (basically on the floor) within reach of children, so as my daughter is playing with a few cars that my husband planned to purchase for her, this guy comes around the corner hollering not to touch touch these cheap little plastic cars. My husband explains he plans to purchase them and this guy says no, we aren’t buying them all… so aside from how rude and condescending that was, how would you know what we planned to purchase? I had a stuffed animal in my hand, so I’m surprised you didn’t tell me to put that back. This guy claimed other customers don’t want kids touching the toys, but judging the reviews, he is the only person with a problem. Maybe don’t work in a toy shop for kids?? Thank you to all the other kind folks in Seaside, because we have never dealt with anything like this in all the years we have visited. We came here after a significant family loss to try and get a little healing, and these jokers just put a really dark cloud over our day. I never EVER write bad reviews, but you offended my family and my baby girl, so mama bear came out! Thank you Worldmark, Tradewinds, Finn’s, Osprey, Crabby Oyster, Norma’s, Iggy’s and every OTHER business in Seaside who recognizes kindness and exceptional customer service! We will never return to this shop. I run a business myself and allI can say is this - You all should take a lesson...
Read moreFirst day we went in, the guy working the front told a lady not to let her daughter read the books & play with the toys. The little girl was very gentle so I thought it was odd but assumed they must have been loitering awhile. I saw some things I figured I'd compare to online cause they seemed expensive so we just bought a bucket and pail then left that day. Here it is 4 days later and after seeing the items were only $5 more each than online I figured I'd rather support a small business so we went back today before leaving town. My 2yr. old gently pulled an item from the bottom shelf that is a push, pull, switch to pop open a cute animal and made of hardy plastic as it's intended for her age group. I had grabbed a Mrs Potato head and about to grab the other items ($60 worth of toys) when the same guy came over and told me not to let her play with the toys. Literally, she tested out 1 toy, gently and as intended, before he told us not to touch things. Fine, I won't see if she likes any additional toys that I'd pay more for in this store than I could find elsewhere since they obviously are not family/kid-friendly people. Wrong kind of business to be in of you want to simply make a profit... A toy store, especially in a tourist town, can only be as successful as the level of care they show their tiny patrons and family. People pay the extra money to have a good experience & good memories, but since they're keen not to allow kids to be excited and GENTLY test out toys, I'll buy those items through Amazon for less overall. FYI, the items I looked up on Amazon are: Telly Jr. For $25(vs $30) Honeybee tree by game zone for $19.99(vs $25) Mrs Potato...
