Comfortable little venue. I like the room that the stage is in. It has excellent sound and there was lots of space to move around. The lobby area is also really big and I like the art on the walls. The staff I interacted with were friendly enough.
The location is a little odd. Being right next to great big Climate Pledge Arena, you really get a sense of how small and tucked away this place is. I actually missed the sign pointing to where the entrance was. Strange how it’s right in the middle section of a much larger building.
I only went for a concert so I can’t comment on the upstairs areas where the art classes are.
I did want to mention one other thing. As of October 2022, this place STILL requires masks and proof of vaccination. To be clear, I am vaccinated and boosted, and I had no problem wearing a mask here since that’s their rule. But given how low the transmission rate is right now, and how the state has relaxed most restrictions as a result, I can’t help but think Vera’s requirements for entry are, at this point, entirely about politics (i.e. done to push back against the conservative anti-vaxxers and anti-maskers). I am all for businesses keeping people safe, and for people doing their due diligence when out in public. But unfortunately it does look like COVID is here to stay, at least at a somewhat consistent level, along with the flu and other seasonal viruses. And at some point we have to move on with our lives. So I hope Vera will decide to use facts and common sense going forward, and will not continue politicizing something that has already been politicized to death. I could be wrong about their motive, but that’s what it looks like.
If people still want to wear masks in public, that’s their decision and that’s fine. But for what it’s worth, most people at the concert took their masks off as soon as lights went out and the music started, and no one working at the venue appeared to make an...
Read moreStart time of show was not listed anywhere online. Only time listed with the show was 7pm on the main webpage and a smaller text on the "Dice" app saying the doors opened at 7pm.
Then on the physical door of the venue, the time listed for the opener was at 8pm and that the main act wouldn't start until 8:50pm.
The times were misleading. I've never been to a small venue that opened the doors an hour before show time, two hours before the main act is on.
I see now that there was another review on google the previous week who also got a similar surprise of a two hour wait time for the opener. This is a pattern.
Post the time that the act is actually going to start somewhere on the website. Our group came out of town for a birthday celebration for this show and cannot stay long enough to see the main start two hours in. Lost out on time and...
Read moreThe Vera Project is such a solid venue in the Seattle scene and has been host to many amazing events over the years.
A while back it was our honor to help activate the space for an interactive AR/VR type event put on by NFTTYX.
For this Sensebellum crafted a custom interactive projection mapping installation using a 3D camera and the human form. Alongside this was a classic installation of "The Sandbox of Life".
It was wonderful to see so many people enjoy the event, the space, and learn about the worlds of mixed reality and interactive media.
Thank you to Evening magazine for covering this as well as the wonderful team at...
