Unknown boat issue ruined our trip - no backup, no care We booked our fishing charter back in April as a special gift for my mom’s birthday and dad’s milestone celebration. It was truly a lifelong dream for them — and the only reason our entire family came back to Alaska (we had already been before) We clearly shared how important this day was when we booked. Then - just one day before the trip - we were told it was canceled because the boat broke down. Things happen, we get it But for a company of this size, there should be a backup plan or at least some real effort to help us find another option. Nothing was offered Yes, we received a refund. But that’s all. No sincere apology, no future discount, no effort to make it right. And by that time, every other charter was fully booked (high season) This was the entire purpose of our trip. And it was ruined We’re not asking for compensation - but the complete lack of empathy and professionalism was extremely disappointing If you’re considering booking with this company, be aware that your trip can be canceled last minute - and you might be left with no alternatives. Plan accordingly

Took a half day rock fish trip with my father, daughter and son-in-law today. The Captain, Tom I believe was his name, on the Servant was excellent and a pretty down to earth guy. He had two deck hands aboard, and we had a lot of conversation with one in particular, Jordan, whim was excellent. All of the crew were helpful and professional and we really appreciated them taking the time to tend to the needs of every person on board. This was my daughter and her husband's first charter and they certainly left happy with a pleasant experience! One item in particular I want to share.... this is always the type of Captain and crew I want to pay for on a charter! Even though I prefer smaller crowds on a charter like a 6 person boat, I found it to be very respectful and appealing they waited for every last person to catch their limit. There was this little redheaded girl, maybe about 10, in another group who hadn't caught her limit. They stayed until she did, almost to a point t where everyone was cheering her on. BRAVO GENTLEMEN...BRAVO! I will definitely pay for a trip again with these guys when I come back to town!

We used Fishhouse charter yesterday to fish halibut and rockfish. The boat trip from Seward to the fishing grounds is little bit longer, about two and a half hours. The boat set off for fishing at about 8:30am and we started fishing only by 11am, little too late I think as in my previous outings fishing started in the early morning hours. We maxed out with our halibut and rockfish limits within two hours though. It looked like there are plenty of fish in the area. But the captain of the boat set the expectations very low in the beginning and claimed the it’s the tail end of the season and there many not to be any fish left. The other charters seem to have taken their customers to fish for other species like lingcod and yellow eye rockfish, and took time to display the catch at the shore for taking pictures. I had a feeling that we were rushed through the whole process though we paid around $400 per head. If you are in Seward and plan to use a charter I suggest you shop around for better service. Looks like there are better options in the town.

Scheduled a salmon trip and bottom fish trip many months in advance. Checked in the week prior to our scheduled trip. Nothing was shared about a potential for cancelations. Received a phone call around noon the day before the salmon trip that there were not enough people on the boat and they were cancelling it. There were no seats available on any other trips they had scheduled the same day. I spent two hours calling other charters to find other options. Less than 24 hr notice of cancellation is not ok or good customer service. There was no attempt help find other options. The next day we had a halibut trip scheduled and it was canceled due to high winds and poor seas. They had given us a warning the day before that this could happen. Again late notice and no assistance to help find something different. We were able to find other fishing opportunities with other charter companies including a boat that went out in the bay the day of the poor weather. The boat of16 limited out on salmon and caught a wide range of bottom fish. The Fish House could have easily done the same thing and scheduled a bay trip instead of just canceling. Before you book look at the reviews and hunt around for options. Especially if there is a potential for...
