I came in to get some take out breakfast for my fiancé since he was at work. We are locals and have done this numerous times in the past. On this particular day, I came in and stood at the front waiting for someone to help me for about 15 minutes. They were fairly busy, but there were two waitresses and empty tables. With my experience as a server the past 5 years, it didn’t seem like anything they couldn’t handle.
Just as I was close to leaving, a server came to assist me and asked how many people would be dining with me. I told her that I actually just wanted takeout. She then said that they were working on dine-ins before take-outs and that I was welcome to sit and eat with them instead, in a condescending voice.
Now typically, this would be no big deal. It was the fact that I stood there for so long waiting, then was spoken to in a very patronizing tone. I understand if a restaurant is busy and staff are having a hard time keeping up. I’ve worked in the food industry for years. But I would’ve preferred hearing that they weren’t doing take-outs with a simple apology.
Overall, I’m mostly just disappointed that I was treated like a dumb tourist who doesn’t know how restaurants function. The only reason I’m not giving this a 1-star review is because I have had the food in the past and...
Read moreI have lived in Alaska for my entire life except the bits that’s don’t need mentioning. This is the best bar / restaurant in Alaska. I’ve known most of the people here for my entire life and they are the genuine meaning of salt of the earth. The drinks they make are artwork. The bartenders are artists painting an alcoholic canvas. The kitchen staff are masters of culinary delight.
Every now and then I ask my partner (we’ll call him George) to pinch me because I always think I’m dreaming when I’m here. It’s that good. Leaving the bar is waking from the dream, something I never want.
All I can say (and I’ve said much) is that I sit here, imbibing in libations that further my eloquence, and I feel lucky.
If you too want amazing food, glorious drinks, all brought to you by the best Alaska has to offer, come to the Breeze. You will not be disappointed, and if you are then you’re wrong and then it doesn’t really matter does it?
Epilogue- ask for Shane and order the RIF. He’ll know what it is. Say you’re a horse girl / boy / other and you’ll make his day...
Read moreHonestly I was excited for this place seeing great reviews but, the food I received was soggy and wet in an odd way and coffee was pretty watery… Also weirdly before that the lady there tried hitting on my boyfriend in front of me and literally asked if he isn't with me when we literally walked in together holding hands lol. What is odd also is she decided to take the other waiters check that helped us saying she’ll give it to her but I know she was definitely looking at his name on the card which is creepy. When there was so much other people to focus on coming in too waiting to order. I honestly feel gross after that experience and it is a big no thanks for me. 😬😬😬 He was really hungry so he ate it still but it’s a never again for us.
Hotel was great though! Clean place and friendly staff in...
