Do not shop here, or at least not from the sales associate Mike. He either has no idea about snowboard sizing/set up or is dangerously negligent. Tldr; recommend me a board too small, bindings too large, and set up my board with 4-5cm (2inch) of heel overhang and almost no toe overhang. Mar/12/24 I spent $1k buying my first board, bindings, and boots. I didnāt know anything about what to look for when buying snowboards so I came here which seemed well reviewed and friendly enough. Mike was my sales guy through the entire thing and recommended me the Arbor Coda Camber 153 with a waist width of 250mm. Now if you know snowboards you will know thatās too small for someone who weighs 195-200lbs and wears US10 boots. But sure, maybe I can give that a pass. But what I definitely cannot is how he sold me a Large Union binding which are for US10.5 and up and set up my bindings for someone who clearly communicated that had no idea about any of this where I had 4-5cm of heel overhang. I kept washing out during heel side turns and only realized after I came back home and learned about boot centering. So all in all, Mike either has no idea about the products heās selling or he took advance of someone who didnāt know about snowboards and used him to get rid of left over inventory which clearly was not only slimy but dangerous. Either way, I wouldnāt shop here again. This shop is less useful in choosing the right gear than online retail websiteās size finder tools. Receipt below as proof even though it has...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs you'll notice by my minimal reviews, I don't do this often. Except for those instances of businesses that completely change my mind about reviewing. Story short, Steve is the absolute man; he's funny, he's kind, and he's willing to spend the time it takes to get you situated and fitted correctly. And you can tell he's just a solid human. I would recommend the boardshop to anyone who is in need of apparel or gear or in need of rental equipment. Again, Steve is the man, and the shop should be your go-to place while in Tahoe. It will now become my one and only stop every time I'm in town.
If you and your family ever find yourself in Chicago, Steve would love to repay the favor of kindness. Thanks again for all of your help. My feet have never felt this good in snowboard boots since high school. I've struggled countless mountains with rental boots and ill-fitting boards, and with your knowledge and your patience, you've completely changed my mind about not only the retail experience but also how comfortable you can be on the mountain when fitted properly. I felt listened to and not oversold on products that I didn't need. The village board shop is 100 out of 100; go there, give them your money; it's well worth it. Shop local, shop often, and high 5 Steve for me.
Brian, "my foot is dying." bailey PS: The rotisserie chicken plate at Verde is not joke awesome....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThereās a sign on the front door that proudly states that they will not be enforcing the mask order, and then none of the three employees inside were wearing masks. This isnāt political, I just donāt understand why anyone with an ounce of humanity wouldnāt just wear a mask. I see the owners on here arguing about over reporting of COVID deaths and how we should respect the wishes of the business. Why donāt you care enough about your customers to simply have your employees wear a mask, and ensure your customers are wearing mask (as it is mandated everywhere in the state)? Itās not about likelihood of death from the virus, itās about preventing the spread of a disease thatās been running rampant for nearly a year. I donāt need CDC or WHO reporting to know that this virus is serious, and that itās highly infectious. Itās all around me all the time. We all can see itās impact on the health of our friends and family. Even if YOU donāt want to acknowledge it, someone who wasnāt even your customer may be impacted by your choice not to endorse the mask mandate. Your crusade to give the State of California a middle finger is not noble, itās stupid and dangerous, not to mention completely needless. Stop putting your employees, your customers, and anyone else who they come into contact...
