Ware's the Fish Charters — Local services in Stock Island

First and foremost, I’m not the guy to just mess with when you take advantage of customers, I’ll leave a damn review.

I’m a casual fisherman, hitting up charters every now and then during the summer when the weather allows it in the keys. Ware’s the Fish out of Big Pine Key was a disappointment to say the least. Booked a half-day trip for me, two buddies from work, and both of my sons, thinking it’d be a fun trip.

Al Ware, the owner, is clearly just out for your cash with big promises that don’t deliver. When booking the trip, he initially stated since that there will be a deposit prior to lock in a day(which I understand), but didn’t mentioned that it would be 40% of the whole trip, odd, but since we already planned to be out there and didn’t have time to keep looking around, I was able to agree on 20% deposit which I still find to be very odd for a fishing trip that wasn’t even worth it.

Got up early like any normal fishing day and went out around 7 AM to grab some live bait, now as a casual fisherman that has been on other charters before in the keys, these money hungry chumps didn’t really seem to know how to even get some shiners into the boat for live bait. We spent about two hours, cruising around the flats trying to get some live bait before heading out to deeper waters damn near at midday. Once again, I tried to have a bit of patience since this is my first time going out with this charter, but pretty uncomfortable ride going out about 30 miles offshore, and my two sons bouncing around the back of the boat with the captain just having the boat in full throttle. Ended up just coming back home with more dead bait than the two yellowtail snappers that barely were the limit for a group of 4.

I emailed him about the lousy trip, got no reply, surprise surprise I should’ve known better. I’ve had solid days with Reel Deal Charters out of Key West, so this was a shock. I never leave reviews, but this was such a rip-off I wouldn’t tell anyone to book with Ware’s if they’re fishing in the Keys.

It would be nice for him to not only hold himself, but his company and workers more accountable as someone that tries to support different businesses, this was a reality check for me thinking that everyone is trying to be a good human when you bring...

Sketchy dude all around. I’ve been fishing in the keys for over 20 years and wanted to take my kids down here for their first time. I called in and the guy told me it would be $500 per person and an additional $250 for anyone under 18 since “they are a higher risk”.

I understand business and thought it was a little off, but wanted to take the kids either way. We showed up and were greeted by the captain who immediately demanded we pay the tip up front and had a nasty attitude. I told him that a tip is designed to be paid after service is rendered, just like any other charter I’ve ever done. He flat out said “no tip, no fishing”. After some arguing, he agreed to having us pay after but demanded we give our IDs as collateral.

The fishing was alright, the captain and crew were less than helpful. Again, I’ve fished my whole life and take a yearly trip down to the keys and typically do different charters, but decided to try a new one. This was by far the rudest, laziest, and unprofessional charter I’ve done. They smoked cigarettes like a chimney, provided zero help, and were plain rude.

Hand down Best any type of fishing charter. You want to target a certain fish, Brandon and Al Knows the best spots. I went With them for a Full day because of My Make-A-Wish trip. I shared my checklist to catch Barracuda, amberjack and Tuna and by the end of the day everything got checked off Truly Amazing. Brandon is so knowledgable he drove us 20 miles off shore to fish for amberjack @ 200-300 feet of water at a WW2 submarine wreck so cool!!! No only does he place you Ware the FISH are but I also got a nature lesson about how the bird help locate where the fresh bait u get to use is. lastly, at the end of the day the Tuna fishing frenzy was mental!!! saw so many flying fish running from the tuna. again 100% would recommend going with this charter top Teir customer service and communication. thank you for such an amazing...
