What I have to say about this clinic is on no part of Dr. Campbell, who was extremely professional and compassionate during our first experience here. However, I have extreme issues with the communication skills and lack of compassion coming from the manager whose name was Allison, and the front-desk staff. I brought my cat here on August 1st for an EKG as he was very sick. They found a blood clot and our cat was not get better, so my partner and I had to make the hard decision to put our cat down. We also decided to pursue afterlife services through the vet, as they did cremations with a third party. We were told that we would get a call/text when he could be picked up.
We called to check up on our cats remains on August 8th, which was almost a full week later. We wanted to see about how much longer they might take. We were told by the front desk staff that he was not back yet from the third party, but would be sometime that week and said they would give us a call and text sometime that week to let us know. This would be their second time saying they would call/text us which would never happen.
We called again today, August 14th, now 2 weeks since our cat was put down at Riverview Animal Clinic. We decided to call again since we were told weâd get a call the week before, and because we were told it would only take about a week for him to be ready. We then heard that he arrived back to the clinic and was ready last Monday, August 7th. I was told that they tried to call me, but couldnât leave a message because the mailbox was full. Meanwhile, I called this clinic on August 8th and was told he was not ready meanwhile he had already been there a FULL DAY.
I was only able to pick up my cats remains today after calling them to check, they never had ANY intention of trying to reach me again. I am absolutely disgusted with how this situation was handled and at the thought of my cats remains being left there with a staff who does not care enough to even communicate with their clients. The trust that I had for this clinic was immediately broken after I was told he had been there for a whole week. When I explained what happened to the manager, she said she did not have a solution for me, and was only able to take $100 off the outrageous bill. She didnât even OFFER this discount, I had to ask for it. I have never witnessed such attitude and lack of compassion from a manager of an establishment, and will never recommend that anybody go here for afterlife services.
Do not go to Riverview Animal Clinic if you are looking for attentive, good with communication, and compassionate staff. You will not find that here. I thought we would bring our other two pets here, and that was ruined by the irresponsibility that was...
Read moreWe have been using Riverview since we moved to Birmingham in 1999. Over the years, we used vet services, grooming and boarding. However, through the years they have outgrown their attention to detail and "family friendly" ambiance of bygone days. Recently my two schnauzers were boarded for a six day period. Without going into detail, they "inadvertently" placed the wrong ID collars on our two dogs. This resulted in a bevy of problems, from having an incorrect weight on their records, to dispensing meds to the wrong dog. When they figured out their error, they dispensed an incorrect dosage. We paid the extra fee for "TLC," for which we'd always received a "report card" with some type of indication as to the dog's daily activity/personality. However, we received only a single card for the first day! IF IT ISN'T DOCUMENTED, IT DIDN'T HAPPEN. My younger dog had a loose stool the morning he went in and my husband brought it to the attention of the front desk personnel, who assured him that they would do a complete fecal exam. That afternoon, when my husband called to see how he was doing, the vet tech told him all tests were normal and that he had walked him and that he was fine., but if things changed he would notify us via telephone. We never heard anything further. However, our statement.reflected a fee for two different medications administered THREE DAYS LATER! When we inquired about details and asked for explanations, the front desk rep said she didn't know. We asked her to find out and that we'd like to speak with an owner or manager. As we were discussing these issues (and more, like the fact that we were given two zip lock bags of food back, despite the fact that we had pre-measured food for each dog for six days for 2x/day feedings), Dr. Cox was speaking with another party when she overheard our inquiries. At that point she came over, attempted to explain how these errors might have occurred and apologized. She also told me she would call to see that my dog was doing fine once home. As of today - four days later - I have not heard a word from anyone at Riverview. I anticipate a response to this review to the effect that I should call the Practice Manager. I will not be calling her, as I feel if she was doing her job, there would be better communication amongst the staff and doctors of the practice. And to be consistent with other reviews, my bill was $651.89. To be clear, past visits have been wonderful and doctors have been thorough and caring. However, this episode was riddled with errors. I pray this is NOT the trend...
Read moreWhere should I start? So I took my puppy here to get his first shot to say the least visit cost me $200+. I told my boyfriend to take him to this vet, and the person at the desk gave me wrong information on what the shot schedule should be and heâs to young for this and that shot , causing me to get frustrated with the veterinarian who told me he didnât know why she would tell me the things she did and that sheâs wrong. I took my dog to another vet to get his second shot because I was not spending 200+ dollars on his second shot. I spent 60 for all of his shots there. Very professional and knowledgeable. Meanwhile, they charge a deposit for first timers for you to even come in there to get your dog seen. So I decided to give this veterinarian office another chance and board my dog. Which she asked for a credit card to be on file right away before even looking at the dates to see if they are available which I told her I will pay in full when I drop him off. The lady over the phone name Janet told me that they usually donât let dogs Stay there until theyâre six months old and to see if he has all his shots because I didnât come there for his last shots. I expressed to her plenty of time that he did get his shots and I will have the paperwork over no problem. So I also told her that they take dogs before six months as long as they have their shots which I told her she was mistaken because her veterinarian told me last time as he laughed that he donât know why she would say that, and thatâs untrue. So needless to say that making an appointment to board was so much more complicated than it had to be. So she booked my appointment for my dog to be bought it for two nights, and she reiterated to make sure that I have his paperwork for his shots so he can stay and I reiterate to her that I wouldnât lie to her and I will bring his information Monday morning, so needless to say every since Iâve been coming to this veterinarian office if itâs going to be that expensive to get your dog checked, then there needs to be more professionalism and accurate information giving to clients if they are coming to the veterinarian. And if they are not trained to give out information about pets, and or their policies and procedures, then they should just tell the clients that they do not know and they should wait to speak with a vet or put a vet on the phone that knows what they are talking about.
