Wanted to take my son to see the new Lego movie and he kept saying he wanted to go to the theater that had the comfy chairs. His grandmother over heard and said oh that's the AMC (star) theatre on Alpine. I haven't been there in years so I decided to go. I remember it being dirty but it was old school looking so I looked past it. When we arrived I noticed it had been remodeled. Sadly I did not make it past the front counter. Standing in line waiting to buy tickets I noticed these people were standing next to us. I wondered if they were going to skip the rope line area everyone else had to navigate in. When the people at the counter left my son and I went to walk up and the young guy at the counter said members first please and they waved these people ahead of us with their 6 kids. Apparently people don't believe in lines anymore or first come first serve. Either way, I usually don't get offended easy, honestly, but this really bothered me. Maybe cause this was my first experience here since I was 14 or maybe because I don't like thinking people are better than others because they knew about a special perk. I grabbed my son and walked out. I decided to drive across town to celebration theater. On my way to the new theatre I called AMC and a young guy Josh answered the phone. I asked Josh if I could speak to the manager. He replied, "and what is this regarding?" As my frustration was building I replied "I just left your theater and I am heading to celebration and I thought you would like to know why." He quickly replied "oh ok well what is the problem?" I said, "are you the manager Josh?" "Yes" he said. "Why didn't you just say so when I asked?" I questioned. "Oh because I wanted to know the scope of things before revealed that I was the manager", he said. "....." was my silent response and then I hung up. Celebration is a bit more expensive but I don't leave feeling like I was disrespected and to my surprise you can drink alcohol in the theatre. I'll never return to AMC. Thanks but no thanks. I go to the movies maybe twice a year. I will pay a little extra. Good luck. I'm sitting in celebration typing this in my seat wait for my movie to start by the way. Seats are pretty...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVery disappointed in the recent trip my fiancĆ© as I had to this AMC. They had a power outage in the morning, and we were understanding to the fact our movie was running 5-15 minutes late (more like 25-30) and that they had to run our gift card multiple times to get it to work. However, we continued to run into issues throughout the movie. We had originally ordered a popcorn, drink, and pretzel bites, however we did not know what time the movie would now start, as it was not posted. So after they tried our gift card for the third time, and weāre told it would be 5-10 minutes for the pretzel bites, I said we could just get the popcorn and drink. When we went into the theater, I went to the app to try to order the pretzel bites to our seat. Because the movie was late, even though the movie hadnāt started yet, it would not let me order past the official movie start time. So I went back out and asked if the pretzel bites could be brought to me in the theater, I was told no they would only bring it to me if I ordered through the app, I tried to explain the app situation and was still told no. I pointed out the 6 staff members behind the counter talking, and because the movie was late and we didnāt know the start time, it would be nice not to miss the movie, still told no. Fine, I waited and missed the first 5 minutes. When I got back into the theater, my fiancĆ© pointed out the lights were still on. I had already missed the first 5 minutes, and I worked at a movie theater before, someone should be in to check the movie soon, but no one did. The lights stayed on the entire film. We could see everyone, people moving around the aisles, people on their phones, teenagers running up and down the stairs every 2 minutes⦠At this point I did get petty, and wanted to see how long it would take for a staff member to come in and check, but it never happened. The lights were on, dimmed, the entire film. The film was not advertised as a special showing, we donāt know why no one else said anything. Donāt worry though, the lights finally turned off⦠as the credits started, so we got to walk out in the dark. Very disappointed and wonāt be returning...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI absolutely loved this place. Although the prices were super high, I have enjoyed every movie experience since I was 8 years old. That is until my most recent visit. Normally I would let something like this slide, but I keep replaying what happened and feel I should fore warn people. After being invited to a $5 ticket Tuesday show, myself, my kid, and my friend went to the AMC theater 18 to watch Captain marvel. Btw GREAT MOVIE! Anyways, after getting our bucket of popcorn and one cup of pop we were ready for the movie. My kid and I used a sharable tray while my friend kept the bucket. And we split the popcorn. Shortly after the movie started, as I was chewing, I noticed a stringy like texture in my mouth. At first I thought oh it's my hair, seeing as how my hair was down in my face I must have chopped on some. Pulled out a short piece of hair about my length, and thought nothing more of it and continued to eat. A couple more handfuls of popcorn and I kept feeling that hairy string in my mouth. I thought maybe I just didn't get it out....wait nope I already pulled the last one out. This is a new strand, as I pulled this 5-6 inch hair out of my mouth I noticed upon further inspection it wasn't mine!! I dropped my handfuls of popcorn and showed my friend. She said she never noticed and hair in her bucket, so I immediately got up and went to the concessions stand. Unfortunately, I dropped the hair along the way and didn't have my proof. But the young lady at the counter was very professional, took my claim serious and offered a refund, along with another bucket on the house. I declined and purchased a drink. I would have gotten the drink for Free but I wanted my points. Besides this one issue, I have never had a bad experience here. And I have been coming here since I was 8. That says a lot since this place has gone under new management and use to cost a lot less. But if your looking for a great theater, this is the place to kick back and relax and enjoy the show, just be mindful of the popcorn. And their new concession food. Hair nets are not in...
