A Quick Rundown: Below you can find my insights on a variety of
Lunch hours (before dinner pricing) - 11:00 - 3:30 (open to 3:30) It is important to know when dinner pricing starts if you often eat lunch late, I verified the lunch hours with the Restaurant staff.
Food: Great quality, quite a selection and always made with care and taste. It is hard to find tasteless food here like some other establishments that focus on quantity, and while it may not be a long spread of selections, the Quality and taste is way above average, with some variety of different dishes being served depending on whether its a weekend or whether its dinner time vs lunch time as well.
Service: The service is great, they are patient and ask you the necessities and letting you voice your own extra accommodations. They are non-intrusive, polite, and enhance the dining experience whether for parties of people or especially lone diners like myself who like their solitude and peace while eating. The only thing I would note of there being any issue was a singular instance in the past, when I first came to this place and wasn't able to interact well with the hibachi grill cooks, but it was just momentary social confusion, and I have been here many times without any other confusions or issues.
Extra Facts/Additional Rundown: This place has a hibachi grill for you to use with NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE - it is included in the buffet. The same goes for the sushi bar located in the middle island, there is no additional charge and the sushi is crafted exceptionally with no lack of taste, aesthetic, or quality. This place also has an ice cream section where you self-serve scoop, but additionally they hold popsicles for people who may not be too keen on ice cream but still like something after.
PRICING: Weekend prices can become expensive. This stays true for the majority of buffets and many restaurants. I recommend going during the weekdays to eat, and at lunchtime as you aren't missing out on too much. See their menu/pricing board for specifics.
Environment: Environment is crucial to lone diners and people with sensitive aspects to themselves or family. The environment is mostly peaceful and steady, with usually only other parties or diners being contributing factors to the environment. The servers are very non intrusive, polite, and kind. There is no sense of urgency to eat as there is with some buffets, and the lighting is warm. The booths/tables hold a dark luster that is calming to me, with little changing of cold and warm colors. Its generally a splendid place to relax and dine, holding an ambience that lets you immerse yourselves in conversations with your party, or eating and doing what you do while eating as I like to read while i eat.
The tables are spaced out, and they rarely seat you within direct vicinity of other guests if the place isn't full, preferring to space everyone out a little as I find this to be fantastic for my experiences.
Overall: A great place to eat out on a budget, depending on when you go. I wouldn't recommend this place for boisterous gatherings (7+), but for lone diners especially and small parties, it is a wonderful place to have immersive conversations, eat well, and go for a mild and enjoyable outing. The take-out pricing can become heavy depending on what you select, and i recommend just eating inside the restaurant as its around the same price to have all you can eat vs taking out a small portion. There is no sense of rush, the selection of foods is acceptable, and the quality is great, certainly up there from what I've seen from buffets. I do recommend going during lunchtime hours, but don't fret if you get there a bit late. Its only around 5-6 dollars more and you get dinner dishes anyways to eat, so you aren't taking a loss if you aren't able to get there before 3:15 (I don't recommend arriving before then for lunch prices, it is rude to not give a 15 minute buffer).
The service is wonderful, though you do need to be a bit more forward with your wants such as if you want...
Read moreI was nervous about trying this place out due to the vastly mixed reviews. We usually frequent Ming Ten when in the mood for a buffet, and Hibachi Supreme was only ranked .2 lower than them, so I decided to take a chance.
We arrived at 4pm on a Thursday and was relieved to see there were plenty of cars in the parking lot. A busy buffet means fresher food. My impression of the interior was that they have really let it go. The wainscoting all around the restaurant is horribly scratched. The booth we were seated in was heavily patched with duct tape and there was hardly any padding left.
The selection of items was pretty impressive. About 40 different hot dish options, including some that you don't see often at buffets. I fixed a plate for my son first. There were lots of kid-friendly options. He chose some fruit, a slice of pizza (I would have passed on it, but kids aren't that picky about pizza), a piece of garlic bread, a stick of chicken teriyaki, and a crab rangoon. I filled my plate up with chicken and broccoli, fried dumplings, salt and pepper shrimp, peanut chicken (fried chicken breast in peanut satay sauce), and coconut shrimp (tempura shrimp in a rich cream sauce). Everything was fresh and yummy except the pizza and garlic bread. The pizza was still edible, it just looked like it had been under the heat lamp too long. But it's pizza at a Chinese buffet, so it's not surprising. But, the garlic bread was inedible. Hard as a rock. Even my son wouldn't touch it after trying to take a bite. But the dumplings were delicious, tender and crispy where they browned. Exceptional for buffet dumplings. On my second trip, I also tried an egg roll and the crab rangoons. Both were fresh, but the egg roll filling wasn't very good. They also had a nice looking salad bar, though I didn't partake.
We filled up one plate with dessert and fruit options to wrap up our meal. They had a cheesecake offering, but I was too full to enjoy something so heavy. I had a nice house-made macaroon (fresh and moist) and some canned peaches and fresh melon from the fruit bar. My son had some pudding, cappuccino cake, melon, and oranges. We never even made it to the ice cream because we were so full, but I did notice they had hot fudge topping and cones, as well as what appeared to be 4 different flavors of soft serve.
Another thing we passed on was the sushi. It looked to be decent quality, but there weren't any varieties that appealed to me. We also didn't try out the hibachi because our stomachs just weren't big enough.
The service was pretty good. Based on the reviews, I went in with low expectations for the service and was pleasantly surprised. Our dirty plates were promptly cleared and our cups were filled pretty quickly. The hostess and waitress were both very nice and took the time to talk to my son. The waitress even read his fortune cookie fortune to him.
My overall impression: If you ignore the somewhat rundown appearance of the dining room, the food and service is pretty good. I would say it is rightly ranked just behind Ming Ten. While the food isn't quite as good, the vast selection makes up for it and it's...
Read moreIf you have the proper expectations, this place is incredible. Nothing here will be the best of that thing you've ever had, but also it surely won't the worst either. Most of it is like 8-9 out of 10...but as a whole, considering the number of options, for the price, I've never seen anything comparable. The reason I rate this place so high is that the price is low and the number of options is just crazy. The times I've been there they have every one of the best things, bourbon chicken, Mongolian beef, sweet and sour chicken (all awesome, 9+ out of 10) the good red chicken things on the squires, all of that, and then obviously all the sides like all the rices and crab rangoons, and other little eclairs, and just all the stuff that you want to JUST eat that one thing until you feel bad but you don't because it's not socially acceptable and your spouse will call you out and say you're being a bad influence on the kids... On top of that, they have really decent pizza on the buffet, hot dogs, burgers, different kinds of fries, mozzarella sticks, American wings and fried chicken, and you can get a steak cooked to order at the hibachi chef station thing... On top of all that, they there is ice cream machines just out at the buffet with all the sundae stuff. It's all a part of the buffet, all all you can eat. I've never ever been to a place with a better selection. Whether you want to eat 17 crab Rangoons and 3 bowls of soft serve, or eat two bites of every different thing until you get concerned you've created a medical issue, this is the pace to be. Regardless of your preference, it's a place where you have to have a solid game plan going in. Truth is, you probably still leave uncomfortable, but if you don't have a plan, with so many options that are almost impossible to pass up, stuff can go real sideways real quick, especially if you're not going directly home afterwards. If you're anywhere near Greenridge Square, this is a place you have...
