My son and I went there twice in a span of 14 days to get a game for his nintendo switch, trying to save money on a used game rather than buy new. He wanted a sports game, so i asked the lady behind the counter if they had any used sports games for the switch after we already looked thru the used inventory on the wall, she said they dont make sports games for the switch, I said we looked online and they make 2k(nba), fifa, and baseball, she said let me look it up, looks on the computer and says no sports games for the switch, i had to pull up each game on my phone to show her while she had an attitude the whole time. New to having the switch i asked if there was a difference in gameplay between the joy-cons and the controllers thinking the joy-cons were like the old Wii remotes with motion detection or something, again eye rolled and said "no". Every question was an inconvenience for her. I asked her what the return policy was on used games was, she said "normal return policys" i said idk what gamestops normal return policy is, she said "7 days full refund on used, and 14 day credit" i said full return in store credit on 14 days? she said "thats what credit means".
Returned on day 14 as the game was too difficult for my son went to return, and asked to return the game and she said she needed the receipt or if i was a power rewards memeber, she cant do a credit card lookup or transaction lookup. Would of been nice to know this when i was shorted on every answer before. I asked if she had a certain game in stock, she said yes 2 of that game, i said can i see the box because i didnt see it in the used section again, she said she cant show me the box in inventory because it has the game in it. I said if its an open used game without a seal can you take the game out, she said she cant do that because it has to stay in the box, i said my son(5) wants to see the box to see if he'd like that game, she then walked to the back to find the 2nd copy of the game with an empty box to show us....I stood there for 10 mins while she looked thru every single used game to find this box, after that 10 mins, i said i'm just going to get a different game its okay, can you look to see if its in stock, she kept looking for another 10 mins saying she has to find the box and make a new box/case for the game and kept searching till we eventually just left the store. terrible experience both times. i've seen multiple similar experiences with the same lady in...
Read moreThe 2 guys working yesterday (July 13 2023) were absolutely horrible! They were snotty, unhelpful, and lied to us on multiple occasions during our visit. They refused to take a trade in, said they dont take trade ins, at all. I asked if they had a particular game, and without looking it up, they immediately said no. A few moments after asking, my husband found the game box on the shelf. It was in the wrong spot. During the checkout process, the one guy was still snotty and told me I didn't have a pro account, called me a liar, actually. I pulled up my account on the app and showed him the bar code. That made him pretty mad. He still didn't use my account, so not only did I not get the points for a purchase over $300, I, also, didn't get to use the measily $5 monthly reward. We had a gift card with a pretty large balance. He said it declined, and we were lying, and there wasn't money on the gift card. He got even more mad when the gift card went through; the error was on his end because he didn't push the right button to trigger the card reader. Another customer walked in at this point, and the guy checking us out asked the other one to take that customer's trade in (yuppers, lied to me in the beginning), and the guy he asked for help, ran (and I mean ran, like sonic) to the back room saying he had counts to do, leaving this guy to finish with us. That customer waited nearly 20 minutes for assistance. The only customers in the store were us and the other guy. 2 customers, 2 employees, should balance, right? The manager decided he wasn't going to do his job and left the other employee to do ALL the work. This is the closest location to us, but we won't be back to this one. We will go far out of our way and go to the location near Kalamazoo and 68th. I will be contacting customer service with my receipt so I can get my points owed for my purchase. They treated my husband and the other customer way differently than they treated me, almost as if they were sexist about women knowing about and playing games and having a pro account. I'm sure the experience would've been way different if it was my husband's pro account (I've had mine...
Read moreI bought a controller with games when I got a new video game system. I got the warranty with everything. When I brought my controller in to be replaced after 6 weeks, they told me they had no controllers available for me. I saw several controllers, but they said they were selling them in bundles, so I would have to go somewhere else, wait a few days or have one shipped. I asked to have it shipped and they wanted to charge me $10 for shipping. It then took longer than expected to deliver. The employees were very kind and seemed to be trying their best, which is why I rated this store 3 stars instead of 2. Update: after getting a controller that was cheaper as a replacement I was informed I would get in-store credit. 4 months later I went to use the in-store credit and they told me they don't do in-store credit and the person that used to work there messed it up. So I paid $80 for a $60 controller. I went to use my points in store considering I didn't have any in-store credit and was told to redeem them on the website. I accidentally redeemed the $10 discount for online only which can't be used in the store. If I want to use the coupon online then I have to buy something over $60 otherwise I am paying $6 for shipping and handling. Even though I am a premium rewards member for the rest of the year with all the complications I do not think I will ever go back. Once again the employees were very nice but the company has practices that make no sense. I changed my rating from 3 stars...
