2nd Street Distilling Company — Local services in Walla Walla

Picked up a bottle of their whiskey 2 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it as a neat drink. Flash forward to now, I finally finished the bottle and did not want to be out of it, so I ordered the same bottle from them. $85 after shipping felt pretty expensive compared to what I paid two years ago but I thought, hey it’s good so I’ll just pay it. The new bottle no longer has the traditional whiskey cork and instead now has a cheap plastic cork that takes away from the old timey appeal and makes it feel cheap. But what’s worse is that the whiskey tastes 100% different than the bottle I enjoyed. No longer smooth and flavorful. It just tastes odd. There’s a unique flavor to it that I haven’t experienced with any other whiskeys that I can’t put my finger on what it is, buts it’s not good. This little place was a find as we were walking through Walla Walla! We saw ‘spirit tasting’ in a place filled with wineries and we thought, yup, let’s go! The owner was super nice and told us all about his liquor and the process he goes through to make them. He also showed us his work room which was impressive. We really liked the Cowboy Whiskey and the garlic pepper vodka was outstanding. The sell a tasty Bloody Mary mix that we sampled one day and came back on Sunday and drank a glass. Take a break from wine overload and check out this place. Recommend tasting the 2nd street vs Rat Bastard Vodka. You will immediately know why quality water is so important in everything. Also try the pepper vodka with their Bloody Mary mix. Has a unique twist of dill flavor that is quite good.
