Create Interior Design — Local services in Walnut Creek

We absolutely loved working with Shawn! We did a major kitchen remodel, including a ~150sq ft addition and redid the majority of the floors throughout house. Short version: very attentive/communicative/accountable, great eye for design and attention to detail, and EXTREMELY fast. It was estimated the project would take 4-5 months, and they finished in 3 months almost to the day (this does not include the design phase and time it took to get the permits). They started demo end of August and finished the night before Thanksgiving!

Long Version: We shopped around with a few different companies but ultimately chose Shawn for a few reasons. We loved that it's a small business owned by Shawn & his wife. We knew it would be a complicated remodel, and for that reason it was important to us to be able to have a lot of upfront brainstorm conversation and understand what it would cost before we dove in. He was really willing to brainstorm with us, discuss our ideas and give us an upfront estimate without charging us. The other design/build companies wanted to charge us for those types of conversations. I loved that Shawn is the owner of the company and would be involved in the project from beginning to end. He was very attentive, has a very strong eye for design, great with communication, and you can tell really cares about making something we would love, and he could be proud of.

I knew there were certain things that I wanted, but also unsure about a lot. He was a perfect match for me to work with. I dont have a great eye for design, so he put together a couple of different renderings that helped me figure out what I wanted. And he had a good balance of assertiveness and flexibility---telling me when something wouldn't work well (and why), what could work better, but also willing to accommodate things that I felt strongly about. We went back and forth on a few of the design specifications, and he was always willing to mock it up for me to see how it could actually look. I loved that I could lean on him for his expertise when I had an idea. I was so confident every step of the way that we would be well taken care of. I also loved all of the workers! The foundation crew (led by Andrias), the drywall guy, paint guys, interior team, electrician, floor guy. Everyone was so fantastic. Very kind, professional/respectful, great attention to detail, and extremely hard working. My husband works out of the house most days and I work from home, so I was always there, and they were very mindful of me and my space and time. Also, his main Project Manager, Fadil! Lovely gentleman. Really easy to get ahold of, would come to the house very often to check on things, and even had some great design ideas that we added on at the end. There were people at our house almost every day getting the work done, and while they were moving fast we could tell that they were doing things right and not skipping corners. Even though I was home, my workdays are usually very busy so I would rarely have to time to check in on things throughout the day, but I really didn't need to. Because Shawn and Fadil really took care of everything.

This review is long overdue. I had the pleasure of working with Shahar & Marin for the redesign of my kitchen and bathrooms in the summer of 2022, and the experience was nothing short of spectacular. From the initial consultation to the final reveal, their expertise, creativity, and attention to detail were evident in every aspect of the project. I had my doubts when Shahar provided me with his take on placement, as I had my own ideas. Unlike other designers I've worked with before (this is my 3rd remodel in 5 years—long story for another time), he didn't hide his disagreement with my ideas, which initially turned me off a bit. However, it was also refreshing, as I made plenty of mistakes in past remodels due to some dumb ideas, and my previous designers didn't want to push back on those ideas. Shahar and Marin were spot on, as it turns out. I've been living here since August 2022, and I love every aspect of their design.

The kitchen, once outdated and cramped, has been transformed into a modern, functional, and inviting space. Shahar understood my style and needs (we were aiming for a "Studio McGee" vibe), incorporating them into a design that not only looks stunning but also enhances the way I use my kitchen daily (among other things, they added a pantry without sacrificing the feel of depth in the kitchen).

In the bathrooms, the choice of tiles and fixtures perfectly complements the overall aesthetic of my home. Shahar's suggestions for the tile layout were perfect from the first shot (no design tweaks needed after the initial concept) and beautifully executed, making the spaces feel luxurious and spa-like. Our tile guy bailed on us at the last minute, and Shahar performed that work with his own team. The craftsmanship and quality of work are evident, and I've received numerous compliments from friends.

What impressed me most was Shahar's (and Marin's) ability to seamlessly blend functionality with style. They were attentive, responsive, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure I was delighted with the outcome. The project was completed on time and within budget, which is a testament to their professionalism and expertise.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Shawn on the interior design for my two-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment, focusing specifically on a complete kitchen and bathroom renovation. From our very first consultation, Shawn impressed me with his professionalism and keen understanding of my vision.

When I described my vision to him, Shawn not only understood exactly what I was aiming for, but he also delivered a design concept that was incredibly on point. The initial designs were stunning, blending a sleek modern aesthetic with organic materials and subtle touches of luxury.

As someone completely new to remodeling and interior design, I had a multitude of questions, and Shawn answered every single one with clarity and expertise. He was incredibly accommodating, working through two revisions of the designs to incorporate my feedback and ensure every detail was perfect. Shawn even went above and beyond the initial scope in accomodating my request for help with lighting, where he skillfully developed a comprehensive recessed light plan that perfectly complemented the overall design and functionality of the spaces. He also physically measured the space himself to make sure every aspect of the project was done with precision.

Shawn also organized a detailed shopping list for all materials. He meticulously helped me order everything that was shown in the renders. Furthermore, he was willing to help handle any returns or issues that arose, such as defective items, saving me immense time and stress. I also appreciate him being patient with a lot of back and forth with questions, revisions, and various tweaks.
