I give Calloway 5 stars plus. In my experience this is by far the best place for framing and art restoration in the area. I had 11 very old Japanese prints from the late 1700's. I thought they just needed rematting, when I had my living room repainted and saw that the matting was too dark. First, when we identified the right matting, it was no longer available in the area, so that had to search nationally, and did find the last available. But more importantly, they advised me that the art itself ideally needed to be cleaned and treated for damage. I agreed to do that. The results were beyond belief. I picked the art up yesterday and it was so brilliant and fresh that I could not believe it was my art. As the artist Utamaro is considered by many the leader in Japanese woodblock printing, the results not only added significant value to my collection but brought out details and colors I had never seen - even when I had acquired it many years ago. I appreciated their advice on every step that I took - and that was without pushing me to do anything. And that leads to the outstanding treatment I have received from the beginning of the process when I first showed them the art and we discussed the next steps. They are not only highly professional but also the nicest people and have extraordinary expertise, judgement and coordination. The art wound up being treated by many hands and yet they managed it smoothly and competently. It was in good hands. They did caution me that it would take a bit of time given the difficulties of COVID, but they delivered results that were truly beyond my expectations. This is the place to go for people who have art they value and want it handled perfectly and respectfully. In addition they have excellent taste and a very strong customer focus. Susan has framed about 20 pieces for me over the past many years. Though I have moved from the DC area, I continue to rely upon Susan and her team as my fine art framers. I'm sure Atlanta has many fine framers, but why rely upon someone else when Susan's team is the best? This is one of the true gems of Georgetown and Washington DC generally. A great gallery with an ever-changing selection of prints, older paintings, and contemporary paintings. All very tasteful.
