I found out about this place because a friend saw it while driving through Georgetown and knew I was in the hunt for a couple outfits for a wedding I'm attending in India early next year. We walked in and were instantly greeted by the owners, who asked what I was looking for. I told them exactly what I needed and my preferred style and colors. In a matter of minutes they chose two beautiful outfits that exceeded my expectations, in which I was fitted into same day, and walked out with two shopping bags in hand. I honestly didn't even expect to buy anything that day, was mostly scoping out the business then planned on shopping around, but the prices and options were too good to pass up. The owners were SO friendly, and not pushy whatsoever when assisting with my purchases. They provided extremely helpful knowledge and advice on how to wear my attire and the trip to India itself. Next step is getting my husband fitted for his outfits and I will 100 percent be coming back here. Oh my goodness where should I start. For the past several months, I have been looking for the perfect saree to wear to a traditional Indian wedding out of town. After going to numerous Indian clothing stores in the DMV I found “The Saree Shop in DC.””❤️

The owners were so wonderful and patient with me. The husband and wife, took the time to show me how to wrap my saree and he even videotaped it for me so I can remember how to wrap it. Never in my life have I received such wonderful customer service.

The wife went as far as to explain the different traditional festivities that I would be attending and suggested which saree I should wear which was very helpful.

Never in my life, have I felt so valued as a customer. This little store in Georgetown Washington DC had every saree you could think about and the prices were very affordable. Anyone looking for traditional Indian wear should definitely visit this store, you would not be disappointed. 😊

Had such a pleasant experience here with the lovely Mr. and Mrs. Bhojwani!! I needed a last minute lehenga set for a destination wedding (due to shipping delays from an online retailer) and called ahead of time to see if they had an item in stock on their website - luckily they did. So I ended up driving there about 30 mins till closing on a Sunday and was in and out within 20 mins with a custom stitched blouse, an adjustable drawstring skirt and scarf. I am so grateful that they were able to accommodate both myself and my sister (who lives out of town). She was able to stitch a custom blouse with my sister’s measurements and now we can rest assured that we will have beautiful lehengas to wear for our friend’s wedding! 10/10 recommend coming here over purchasing with an online retailer to avoid shipping...
