Update/ Their response below is a lie! Ella Rude is now an Elle-of a cover up! They did not help me SEVERAL times they got it twisted. I asked for help several times and didnât get it. I am not the liar here. I truly resent the implication which is the reason for the update. Ella could have simply apologized without the added lie about cameras etc. However, I am happy that this review (viewed in the thousands) has made Ella Rude watch their manners since I was last there. GOOD! That is the point of a review. I wish I had the better experience others are getting. But I stand by my first reviewâ-ââI would never visit this store again!!! Despite being from out of town with money burning a hole in my pocket, I could not bring myself to spend a dime in ANY PLACE that treats me with such disrespect. I was sent there by a neighboring shop, who had wonderful customer service, only to be treated like an outcast seconds later. I was meanly chastised for bringing in a wet umbrella, then watched like a hawk for the 20 minutes or so I decided to stay hoping she was just a nice lady having a bad day. Meanwhile she and her staff catered and practically, slobbered over to a wealthy mother and daughter duo. When I asked if there was any other vintage stores I might visit, she refused to give me the information, in spite of the fact that I was just referred to her! I had to find the several places on my own. And they agreed "she has a reputation." Ms. Rich's behavior mirrors her name. Unless you plan to spend tons of $$$$--and its obvious you will--this shop is NOT the place for you! Ella Rue is ELLA RUDE in a space much to tiny for such classist airs. May I remind Ms. Rich of a scene in Pretty Woman--Don't want my money?...
Read moreJust had a great little shopping moment at Ella-Rue, a consignment boutique in DC thatâs definitely worth knowing about if youâre into designer pieces without the full-price guilt trip. The edit is solid â everything from Hermes (yes, I spotted a pair of immaculate riding boots, sadly not my size) to The Row, Prada, Chanel⌠even some more accessible gems from brands like Mansur Gavriel.
I lucked out and found a pair of Prada Monolith loafers that are still available in-store at full price â except mine were half the cost and looked like theyâd maybe been worn once. Maybe. Such a good score, plus I got to support a small business, which always feels better than buying direct from some corporate mega-retailer.
And shout out to Julia, who works there â she was fantastic. Super helpful, super knowledgeable, and when the right shoe went missing (yes, really), she helped me tear the place apart to find it. I had almost given up, but then I spotted a Prada box⌠and there it was. Victory.
All in all: great range, well-curated, and the kind of place where you just might walk out with a designer piece you didnât even know you needed. Definitely one to add to your DC...
Read moreAlways a wonderful experience shopping here! Over the years I have popped in for various things and have always been greeted warmly by Krista who could not be nicer. Recently, I have been on the prowl for a high end designer handbag and they happened to procure exactly what I was looking for. Ella-Rue was able to provide me with the opportunity to buy an impossible to find, brand new Hermes bag for thousands less than I would find at any other consignment location. Krista and Alexa were both so friendly and low pressure that it made me really happy to shop local for this exciting purchase! Krista was very patient and allowed me the time I needed to make the decision. This is a great shop with something for everyone - wonderful place to find high quality second hand clothing, designer shoes and denim. I have also consigned with them and it is effortless. Great customer service, well curated selection of clothing and huge variety....
