This gym is not living up to what they promised. It was supposed to be 24/7, but they are not open weekend nights/mornings. The biggest disappointment are the classes. BJJ/MMA: Joshua is an awesome instructor, unfortunately he is hamstrung by corporate. In order to spar/roll you have to wait a minimum of 8 months (going by their belt ranking) which is a complete joke for anyone who has had any training. For the NoGi classes there technically isn't even any rolling because there are no belts.
The MMA classes are good, but they are only offered occasionally and not regularly, kind of odd for a MMA gym. That's the other issue, classes seem to get cancelled or moved with no notice. Also what's with the bowing? BJJ and MMA are built up from something different than traditional McDojo Karate, and the best thing was always not having to do the useless sensei/bowing junk. Another gripe is they promised morning classes, and instead of morning classes they are just cutting the afternoon classes.
Kids classes are a joke, the kids run around like its playtime with zero discipline, and they keep dropping classes, now they are down to only 2 kids BJJ classes/week. The gym itself is ok, they pretty much just kept all of 24 hour gym's old equipment, but they don't update with the latest and greatest like for example a belt squat machine. It's not as clean as it should be, but it's not awful either. Pool just opened, after me paying 3 months of full membership, but at least it's open now.
I'm having billing issues as well. I canceled the recovery portion of my membership, without full massage it just wasn't worth it. Now everytime I speak to a manager they assure me they will stop billing and give me a refund, but it's been months and I still get billed and haven't received any refunds.
It seems the biggest hurdle is corporate and funding, I can only assume they are operating on a limited budget, which scares me if they end up closing and I lose my initiation fee. Their one BJJ/MMA instructor, Joshua, is awesome but I guarantee they are going to burn him out and lose him as he seems to be running all the classes. Miguel was very good as well, but he was only there for about a month. The front desk and trainers are all very nice and at least they try to help as much as they can.
They had at least a year where they could have anticipated these issues, they had a decent sized staff nearby taking new members in while construction was going on, so it's not like they just moved in the day before the opening. These issues should have been ironed out before the gym opened.
Unfortunately the conclusion is that the gym is on a downward trajectory from which they may not recover. They need to put in the resources to make members happy before they permanently tarnish...
Read moreI must admit that when I first started going to UFC Fit in Wayne, it was disorganized, a bit messy, and some of the classes didn't entirely meet my expectations. However, over the past year, I've witnessed an incredible transformation. The effort and focus they've put into making this gym a fantastic facility is truly commendable.
One remarkable change I've observed is the growth of the BJJ program. It wasn't the best, but Coach Brandon's leadership elevated it from the ground up. His expertise in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has translated into engaging activities and competitions that challenge and encourage his students to test their skills on the mat. The BJJ team at UFC Fit can be considered a triple threat.
Coach Joe, with his positivity, is a motivator like no other. He's always there, even after what might seem like the worst roll, to help you recognize the positives and leave you feeling so much better. Coach Javier is a wealth of knowledge and his passion for BJJ shines through in his patient and masterful teaching. He also has an amazing kickboxing class that will guarantee you to sweat and learn actual techniques which is a great addition to the gym.
But, the hidden gem of UFC Fit, in my opinion, is the Zumba classes downstairs. They deserve more credit and recognition. These classes are truly awesome! If you're looking for an amazing cardio workout, you must give them a try, especially Dorothy's Zumba class. She's a dedicated instructor who genuinely wants her students to have a blast in her classes. She goes above and beyond, crafting her own dance routines for songs to make each session unique. Her holiday parties and events are the icing on the cake, showing her commitment to creating a fantastic experience for her students.
I'm unsure if there's specific management for these classes, but I hope they realize just how valuable Dorothy is as an instructor. Her dedication is outstanding, and I sincerely hope they'll continue to support her and keep her happily teaching at UFC Fit because she's simply amazing.
UFC Fit in Wayne has truly come a long way and the hard work and passion of the staff have made it an outstanding gym. I'm excited to see how it continues to...
Read moreI really tried to avoid posting this by calling the gym and trying to talk to someone in person but by the intentional lack of response they don't care about my issue or even attempting to solve it. I signed up for this gym before the doors opened. The woman I signed up with sold me the package saying the recovery was included with my membership. She told me I just needed to paid for two months up front no problem I did that. Fast forward to two weeks ago. I got a message from the gym to contact them in regards to my account but I knew my payment for my monthly with through. I looked at my account and saw double charges for the the past couple of months so I stopped in to see why. The girl at the counter was very helpful and she figured out they were charging me for the recovery package that was supposed to be included in my membership according to the woman I signed up with. I told her I didn't agree to that and I don't want it because I have never used it since I have been a member. She then put in a request to have all the charges refunded for the recovery because it was sold falsely. A week went by I didn't hear anything so I called and spoke to a female ops Manager and she said they probably won't refund me but the GM is the only one who can make that decision. I asked to be transferred because he was there and he didn't answer. I hung up and called again and she transferred me again and he didn't answer again. Then I was told he is in a meeting and he would call me back. I said I want a call back otherwise I am going to walk and go elsewhere. No call since. I called again today and I was transferred to the GM and no answer again. I got called again and was told by the same person who transferred me the GM and Ops Manager are only available during Monday thru Friday so I assume no managers are there on the weekends. It also appears they don't want to speak to me. It's a shame because I like the Gym the 24 hours is convenient. However, like anything else poor Management ruins a good thing. Folks, I can't tell you what to do if you are looking for a gym however do understand this is how they handle things so be...
