Schmidt's Farm and Greenhouse — Local services in West Jordan

Update: So the manager replied on my review saying I could return the mealy infested plant for a full refund. But before returning it I wanted to try to treats the mealy bugs because I do want to keep the plant - it was a good deal! But none of my pest treatments worked. I decided I should take the manager up on his offer to return the plant.

I came into the green house today with the plant and stood in front of the cash register and the blonde girl didnt even apprach the counter and didnt even welcome me into their business and honestly acted like why was I even there in the first place. She just stood in the back like she didnt want to help. Turns out they couldnt even refund it because only the owner can authorize a refund and said he wouldnt be in until 10:30pm/11pm. I asked them if I needed to be there to get the refund and they said no that they just needed the last 4 of the card number, name, and phone number. They told me that once the owner comes in theyd attempt the refund and if they had any questions or issues theyd give me a call. Fast forward 6 hours and havent heard anything from them. I tried to call them multiple tomes and even the number provided by the manager and NO ONE answered. I had left the plant over there trusting theyd refund my money back on to my card…but honestly I dont even care at this point. I just wanted to get the plant away from my other plants. I trusted that this place wouldnt have any serious pests and they failed at that. They said I could return the plant and they failed at that and to make it worse I had a poor experience going in to return the plant. They can keep the plant to resell to someone else, i dont care! I am not buying plants here anymore. And here I was trying to support small businesses. Good bye!

Id be very careful with the plants you choose to buy from here and dont expect a refund even if there are pests. Theyre going to ignore you.

I was really excited to find this place to start buying my houseplants. I havent dealt with house plant pests (other than gnats) until one of the plants i bought from here had mealy bugs! It was an imperial green philodendron that was 20% off. I brought it home and was excited for the new leaf to unfurl all the way and to my dismay saw 2 huge mealy bugs on it. Ive isolated it from the rest of my plants and fingers crossed they didnt spread to my other plants 😭

Maybe thats why it was 20% off cause they knew it had pests on it.

All in all im disappointed because like i stated previously ive been fortunate to not have a problem with plant pests until now:/

Id stay away from purchasing plants that are on sale

Its been a few weeks since i killed those two mealy bugs and was hoping that was all the mealy bugs but i checked today and...

I was introduced to the Schmidt greenhouse by a friend shortly after moving to the area. I must say, the family that runs this greenhouse are people who will bend over backwards to help their customers. Not only are their design staff incredibly gifted and talented, they are very knowledgeable about their products. I purchased a Red Maple, grasses, and flowers from them. Thanks to their instruction, all are thriving!!

I also visited their pumpkin patch which was easily the most traditional and fun patch I've been to. They had goats and other livestock, a super fun corn pit and slide, hay maze, and SO many pumpkins of all varieties. We had so much fun!

I just got my Christmas tree here and I had the best experience! I originally went to Petersens Family Farm because they had more reviews on Google but ended up leaving because their quality of trees were so terrible and overpriced. I could not believe what they were trying to sell. I started looking up other places and found Schmidt’s. Every single one of their trees were beautiful, I had a hard time narrowing it down. They could be charging double for the quality compared to Petersons. The staff was so wonderful and happy. They all seem like they love what they do and it really added to the Christmas spirit!
