Menchie's Frozen Yogurt — Local services in West Valley City

PLEASE think twice about going here. They do not care about their customers' health. We gave this location, and corporate, amply time to respond to our complaint to no avail. Following is a detailed account of our experience:

My wife and I visited the Highbury Centre location in West Valley City on 9/21 at about 7:30pm. My wife needed to take a lactaid pill and asked for a cup of water since there is no drinking fountain in this location. The girl stated that the only water they had was in the refrigerated case for sale. (It is actually a code violation for a restaurant to not offer water free of charge when there is no drinking fountain provided.) After my wife told me they wouldn't give her a small cup of water I went back to the counter to ask for a cup so my wife could take some medication. When they realized I was serious and was not leaving the register, one of the girls went in the back and returned with a partial cup of chilled water. My wife took her lactaid with a little bit of the water and ate her frozen yogurt. After we finished eating she drank the rest of the water and we left.

Within 5 minutes of leaving my wife started complaining about a burning in her throat that gradually descended to her stomach. This burning continued to get worse and her lymph nodes began to swell. She could tell this was different than acid reflux and different than an allergic reaction so we began to think maybe it was some kind of poisoning, possibly a cleaner of some type.

We called poison control and they indicated that her symptoms were indicitive of swallowing a poisonous cleaner. They also indicated that without knowing to what chemical she may have been exposed, they could not recommend a remedy or course of action because treatments vary. Furthermore they said that a trip to the ER would also be ineffective unless she started having heart or breating problems. I called the Menchies location to try to find out to what chemicals she may have been exposed but was only directed to voicemail after a lengthy recording. My message went unanswered. I also tried messaging the location through Google to no avail.

A subsequent visit to a walk-in clinic the following day confirmed that this was very likely a chemical burn. My concern is not so much for my wife at this point as much as it is for small children who may be exposed to these chemicals. I can't imagine what this might have done to my three year...

Not sure if the "owner" of this location will actually read and reply or do something about this that I think is an issue not just for the business but the owner as well. On the 29th of July we visited this location at 6:30pm the place was busy as expected on a hot sunny day, the first thing that it was noted was that the tables were not clean, the second was that most of the machine flavors were flashing as to be restock with more yogurt and even one of the flavors was completely empty, the third is that the girls from the counter were just having a nice conversation with each other and didn't seem to care of any of the previous points mentioned, and forth what really got me was the fact that when I was going to pay the cashier asked if I wanted to leave a tip, taking in to consideration the facts that it is a self serve, and that the flavors we wanted were empty and there was no clean tables to enjoy the yogurt I didn't think that they actually deserve a tip. I just want to emphasize on the fact that it is a self service so they only have to take my money. I've never had this happen were the cashier would feel that the customer is obligated to leave a tip for a very limited service including the product it self. I’m never coming here again. I went in to make a personal cake 4 days before my sisters birthday. On her birthday I went to pick up the cake and the worker came out with a blank cake stating that they didn’t get the email of the image I sent. They didn’t bother calling or emailing me to inform me of this information. When I asked if they could print it now, no one who was working knew how. They offered no apologies or tries to fix their mistake. Her resolution was to buy a different cake that we did not order. Their cakes are just under $50 which is fine if you get what you want.
