I will never be back to this Dillards after an absolutely horrible experience with a salesman in men's suiting. I have been helped by this particular sales associate before, and he was friendly and helpful then. Apparently this time I wasn't wearing the right clothes so I wasn't worth his time. He couldn't have been less helpful if he had tried. He first tried to get rid of us by sending us across the store to a different department and handing us off to a different sales associate without even showing us what he had in his department. This new department did not have at all what we were looking for so we had to return to the original department back on the other side of the store. My husband and I were both very tired from a long day and I had an injured leg so I really didn't appreciate being paraded around the store unnecessarily. Then when we came back to this particular salesman's department, he took us to one rack which didn't have my husband's size. He declared that was all he had which wasn't true. After finding my husband's size on a different rack, the pants turned out to be slim fit which don't work on my husband. The salesman then gave my husband the next size up which absolutely swallowed my husband, and he never mentioned that the pants also came in a classic fit. I discovered the classic fit pants myself. The classic fit fit my husband perfectly, but they did not have the correct length in stock. The salesman did not once offer to order the correct size or get them hemmed for us which I would have been happy to pay for. We ended up buying the pants anyway which I regret doing. I will be taking my business elsewhere in the future. How I am treated should not be based on what I am wearing that particular day. EVERYONE (who isn't being disrespectful or causing a problem) should be given exceptional service. Do...
Read moreRight after Christmas I was in store looking at the Vera Bradley merchandise. I had picked up a throw blanket for my father and wanted to pick up a new weekend bag for myself. There were about 4 new patterns that I liked equally and couldn’t decide on which to purchase. As I was looking at each print trying to make my decision....I notice out of the corner of my eye a group of sales associates gathered across the walk way from where I was. I glanced up to see them staring me down, and very obviously whispering amongst themselves. I thought it was odd at first but continued looking. As I placed one bag back on the shelf, I notice the ladies still in the same stance. Now, I’m feeling very uncomfortable. Finally one of the girls walks over to me and asks me if I’m “having trouble” while the other ladies continue to stand in place looking me up and down. I calmly explained that I could not decide on which print as I loved several...she made it very clear from her body language that she was NOT leaving until I made a decision. So, I finally chose a print and made my purchases. I have NEVER felt so silently insulted. Mind you, I was not dressed ragged and I was toting a Louis Vuitton bag. Of course, that means nothing really. But it was very apparent that they assumed I was up to no good. I’ve worked retail so I do understand that that is an honest threat to any retail establishment. But to make it so blatantly obvious was appalling and very unprofessional. I will NOT...
Read moreGetting my husband to go shopping is always a trial. He hates malls and dressing rooms and always waits until the very last minute before we leave for an event to look through his closet and state that he has nothing to wear. I then drag him to Dillards and force him into a dressing room while I bring armloads of clothes for him to try on. I usually do this by myself, but to my delight, a young, hip sales representative named Chesney came to my rescue. After listening to my husband go through his long list of likes and dislikes, she went to work. Chesney made numerous trips from the dressing room to the floor, and even to the storage area to bring an assortment of outfit combinations. She was patient and helpful, and my husband left with a complete outfit that he would never have chosen himself. Chesney spent well over an hour with us and then refused my help in hanging up all the clothes my husband had left all over the dressing room. It is rare these days to get any kind of assistance in a department store, and Chesney went above and beyond our expectations. Kudos also to the mens department manager, Chris, who was recruited by Chesney to help with...
