A Long Overdue Review We’ve known Xiaowei for over 10 years—she was my daughter’s first real art teacher. At the time, we lived near her studio, and I still vividly remember those long winter nights: snow falling quietly outside, while inside the warm, high-ceilinged studio, Xiaowei and my daughter created many beautiful and imaginative pieces. I still cherish every one of those artworks in our collection. Unfortunately, as our commute grew longer, we had to pause lessons with Xiaowei. Earlier this year, we were thrilled to learn that Xiaowei had opened a new art center—this time, not too far from us. My daughter rejoined her classes almost immediately. To our delight, her very first new artwork under Xiaowei’s guidance was accepted into an international art competition! Not only was the artwork itself a proud accomplishment, but what truly impressed us was Xiaowei’s dedication throughout the submission process. Due to some unexpected technical issues, the acceptance letter initially failed to reach us. Xiaowei personally coordinated with the competition organizers—across time zones and over several days—ensuring every detail was clarified. Thanks to her perseverance, we were able to complete the next steps and meet the deadline. Thank you, Xiaowei! We’re so grateful to be working with you again and look forward to the exciting artistic journey ahead.

We’ve been learning art at this studio for a year now, and I can confidently say it’s the best art training center in Boston. The classroom environment is elegant and beautifully designed, with high-quality facilities that create a truly inspiring space for kids to learn. From a parent’s perspective, the management is excellent. They use a professional software system that makes it easy to track class schedules, request absences, or reschedule lessons—all very convenient and efficient. But what truly sets this place apart is the quality of the teachers. My daughter has attended three different art institutions, and this is by far her favorite. The teachers here are not only talented artists but also deeply understand child development and education. They know how to tailor their guidance to each student’s needs, helping kids create impressive competition pieces and school application portfolios. I’ve witnessed many students win awards and grow tremendously here. The founder is someone with great vision and heart. Her goal isn’t just to teach kids how to draw, but to use art as a starting point for personal growth and exploration. With all the programs and opportunities they provide, this place truly lives up to its reputation as the No.1 art studio in Boston!

Both my sons began learning drawing and art with Xiaowei in 2017 or 2018. At that time, my older son was 10 years old and had already been studying drawing with several other teachers in the Boston area. I noticed his interest in drawing gradually diminishing, partly due to repetitive copying exercises and a lack of connection and inspiration. We switched teachers a couple of times, hoping to find a good fit. Once he started with Xiaowei, we knew we had found the right teacher. Both my boys absolutely love her teaching approach, which always emphasizes creativity first, then skills. She tailors the art techniques and direction based on each child's interests and strengths. While Xiaowei encourages my boys to submit their work for competitions, this is never the primary goal of her teaching philosophy—she wants them to enjoy and appreciate art and drawing above all. Drawing from her own experience with diverse art materials and styles, Xiaowei recognized my younger son's interest and strength in digital art and encouraged him to explore this direction further. Now he's completely hooked and has won several national and international awards for his work. Most importantly, in my opinion, he truly enjoys it.

Summary: Would give 20 stars if I could. The tuition is extremely reasonable for the amount of personal attention you get from an internationally recognized top fine artist who happens to also be a talented, loving, dedicated and fun art educator. The center is well run. Count yourself very lucky.

Long version: Five years ago, my daughter spent a year at a local art school but, unfortunately, learned very little about art or drawing. That experience led me to enroll her in online classes at XC Art. Despite the lack of in-person instruction, what she has gained through XC has far surpassed anything she could have received locally.

Before the switch, I knew of Xiaowei as an internationally renowned fine artist, skilled in a wide range of media. After my daughter joined her school, I came to know her as the most dedicated and talented art educator I’ve ever encountered. Xiaowei teaches her students how to observe, how to compose, how to ideate and execute — but even more importantly, how to express themselves, how to make consistent, steady progress, and how to believe in their own potential.

Because of her classes at XC, my daughter is not only a stronger artist but also a happier, more confident person. For the past five years, this has been the one constant in her life — a source of inspiration and growth.

I’m incredibly proud of her accomplishments, including a 2nd place international art award and a NASA recognition. She has blossomed into a thoughtful, skilled young artist — something that would have been impossible without Xiaowei’s unwavering dedication. It has truly been a...

My daughter has been a student at XC Art Center for six incredible years, and the growth I have witnessed in her is nothing short of amazing. When she started, art was just a hobby, but thanks to the incredible guidance and passion of her teacher, Xiaowei, it has blossomed into a genuine love and a powerful form of self-expression.

What I appreciate most about XC Art Center is the profound emphasis on individuality. This is not a studio where students simply copy the teacher or a reference photo. Instead, Xiaowei nurtures each child's unique vision. She encourages them to think deeply, to be creative, and to pour their own ideas and feelings onto the canvas. Every piece of art that comes home is a reflection of my daughter's own thoughts and personality, not a cookie-cutter replica. It's a testament to the center's philosophy of fostering true artistic spirit.

The environment is nurturing yet challenging, pushing students to move beyond basic techniques and truly explore their creative potential. Xiaowei has a remarkable talent for connecting with her students and instilling in them not only skills but also the confidence to express themselves.

We feel so fortunate to have found this gem of an art studio. For any parent looking for a place that will cultivate their child's creativity, critical thinking, and love for art, I cannot recommend XC Art Center and Xiaowei highly enough. It has been a truly transformative experience...
