Here are the key factors when purchasing a couch or chair: Eye appeal, price appeal, and as appeal This is the first time that I had ever shopped at a La-Z-Boy store. The Woodbury, MN store is clean and beautiful with lots of choices in chairs, couches, cabinets, tables, lamps, etc. I was greeted by Ryan moments after coming through the door. I was shopping for a manual recliner, meaning I do not want a chair that plugs in and/or requires a motor or lithium battery to function. I had already tried recliners at Hom Store and at Slumberland. The premier leather European design recliner at Hom Store was top-of-the-line drop-dead-gorgeous but had a dual operating system meaning it can operate on power or with manual levers, which makes for a VERY heavy chair with potentially expensive repairs and/or including motor or battery replacement. The leather Euro recliner at Slumberland was manual but impossible for me to push back into a recline position as the recline mechanism was very stiff. My husband was able to recline in the Slumberland manual model, but he is 6 inches taller and 60 pounds heavier than I am. At La-Z-Boy, I purchased a manual recliner that was easy peasy for me to lean back without the nuisance of a motion lever or a brake lever. All I had to do was gently lean back to recline a little or a lot. Returning the recliner to upright was also easy peasy. Ryan, who was on his 4th day on the job, showed me a selection of good-sized leather and fabric samples. After I narrowed it down to two different full-grain leather colors, he used a tablet to display a virtual image of how each color would look on the Eldorado, which was my favorite recliner. I ordered the custom recliner the same afternoon and will receive it in about six months. I could have had the stock Eldorado top-grain brown leather recliner with oak grain armrests delivered much sooner, but I am willing to wait for brick-red-full-grain leather with carbon-stained wooden arms for a more contemporary look. Thank you, Ryan, for your help. Photo shows the stock leather Eldorado in partial recline: It can also lay totally flat, upright and everything in-between. Full-grain leather is very durable with a lovely patina and unique markings. Full-grain leather samples are about 12 inches square. I found the right recliner at La-Z-Boy: The Eldorado has eye appeal, price appeal,...
Read moreFirst of all, we bought a power recliner from Becker Furniture in Woodbury. NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM BECKER FURNITURE. La-Z-Boy in Woodbury had a reclining loveseat in stock that we could take home with us! When we arrived I walked over, it looked nice enough. When I took hold of the back to move the seat, it came right off the corner! I am not there to buy junk and NO, that’s not how all furniture is made. A much better quality would have metal connecters securing the back to the frame. I turned the loveseat over and saw that the slot when the mechanism for reclining was. It’s PLASTIC! In other words it’s manufactured to eventually break. That same plastic piece is metal in so many larger tools I know I can replace it immediately, but why should I have to? Incredibly disappointed The sales lady, a 55+ short blond colored hair never even bothered to speak to us after I had turned the chair over. 15 minutes later and still with no other salesperson approaching us I walked over to a employee, a tall man sitting in recliner and told him how long we had been there without being approached. This guy blames that on me! Because I had decided one recliner was junk. I pointed out the plastic assembly. He argued “It has a lifetime guarantee. This of course is BS. I tried to explain the difference between plastic being used instead of metal in a higher used pressure/weight bearing area to no use. “It has a lifetime guarantee”. It was no use. He could not understand that plastic would break faster. He never used the phrase “limited lifetime” for the “guarantee”. My advice, don’t waste your time at...
Read moreDo not shop at this La-Z-Boy or any La-Z-Boy, for that matter. We have bought multiple living room sets from La-Z-Boy through the years. The latest from this store is a disaster. Three out of four upholstered pieces are bad. Apparently they outsource their manufacturing to Mexico now and the quality is gone. The complaint was put in at delivery, which occurred after the now obligatory six month waiting period. It’s been a month since then, and the technician came today. One recliner is trash and has to be re- made. The second needs to be restuffed and reupholstered. The cushions on the couch are rock hard - we paid for a comfort cushion upgrade. The couch was not on his work order, so, even though he agrees something is wrong, he can’t do anything about it. The store manager claims that in all these weeks, she can’t get a reply from the “ Comfort Care” department as to what can be done. My 20+ year old La-Z-Boy furniture in the basement is light years better than what I have brand new in my living room. What I purchased in 2017 was perfect. No more. La-Z-Boy quality and customer care is a thing of the past. My preference is that they just come take this all away and give me my money back. A purchase agreement implies that both parties are going to deliver what was agreed on. A quality product, free from defect does not seem like it’s more than should be expected. The old gray mare, she ain’t what she used to be. Stupid, stupid, stupid. I can’t even think of a nice...
