On June 18th my girlfriend and I went to Home Depot Woodstock, Georgia location to check out their carpet selection as theyāre running a free installation promotion. We worked with Mike in setting up a time to have our new home measured. For those of you that havenāt had carpet installed by home depot - in order to book an appointment for them to come to your house you have to sit with them and give overall house size estimates. This INCLUDES: number of rooms, approximate sizes - based on their software, closets and stairwells. During this consultation we confirmed we had two stairwells - one to the basement and one to the upstairs. A few days later a home depot employee came to measure our home. I showed the person, the rooms, and stairs and he left. We were informed weād have a quote within 48 hours.
We received our quote and decided to move forward with the purchase - just under $3700. The final payment was around $3300 with the 10% military discount. We had received a competing quote for $2500, but went with home depot for the perceived quality of working with a big box retailer, and their military discount. Iām 100% service disabled veteran.
When we went to pay for the quote Linda was working. We again reviewed the quote that had TWO stairwells, in fact we had several conversations to confirm. Made our payment IN FULL and went on our way.
The installation was scheduled for that Saturday. The installers arrived promptly at 8am and within 10 minutes of arriving notified us that they didnāt have enough carpet because one of the stairwells didnāt appear in their paperwork. I immediately called the installation company and Home Depot. Installers confirmed the stairs werenāt on their paperwork, while Linda (the woman we spoke to when we paid) said thereās ABSOLUTELY enough carpet and not to worry. This conversation happened around 830 AM.
Fast forward to 2 pm and the installers, in fact, do NOT have enough carpet. The previous homeowners had dogs, which Iām highly allergic too and why replacing the carpet in our entire house was important. Not to mention weāre in the middle of a pandemic.
I called the store again, and Linda said she never told us weād have enough carpet and that there wasnāt anything that could be done. Iām obviously upset at this point and get passed around through the department manager and store AM.
They tell me they can install the missing carpet - free of charge, for both install and materials. This offer is humorous - as Iāve already paid for the carpet as stated in my receipt, but they canāt do anything now because itās the weekend. They even ask the installer to measure again - a service Home Depot was paid to do.
Iāve had multiple calls with the store and Home Deport corporate. At one point we were offered $150 back, but I havenāt heard anything about that. Today on a call with Customer Care they told me that the discount we received for my military discount, is now being called a credit for the mess they made NOT the discount that Home Depot offers to vets.
The leadership team at this location is an embarrassment to management professionals, especially those that represent the Home Depot shopping experience.
Can someone that cares about me as a person, customer, or a DISABLED VETERAN OF TWO FOREIGN WARS please help me. I feel like Iām just being taken...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBetween my job and personal home projects, Iāve been to almost every Home Depot in the Atlanta area and rarely have any issues. But for some reason the one with the worst customer service is right here in my hometown of Woodstock, specifically the garden department. You guys have really outdone yourselves here! I inquired about the cost of a tree that had no price or barcode on it and boy was that a complete waste of time. The cashier was the only employee in the whole garden section so I had to stand in line to ask the price for something. She wasnāt sure so she paged someone else which took around 10 minutes for them to come assist. She had no idea what tree I was talking about, it was the only one of its kind on display and itās kind of a specialty tree. I thought maybe they would be more familiar with their inventory but no biggie. I walked her to the tree to show that It didnāt have a price or barcode anywhere on it. She had me carry the tree to the cashier who still didnāt know the cost of it. They called another employee who also had no idea and was trying to find it In their system but could not locate it. The odd part was they had the exact same tree off to the side that was on hold for another customer. How exactly were they able to pay for that one? The gentleman that was there called the store manager who told him to find a similar size tree and charge me for that. After offering me a price I agreed to buy it, but then he quickly disappeared and left me with the garden employee who then proceeded to tell me they couldnāt sell it to me because it wasnāt In their system. Uhmā¦what?! They go from offering me price to āwe canāt sell it to you because it doesnāt have a barcodeā? I paid for the rest of my things and commented āwell thatās frustrating!ā because this whole process took seriously 30 minutes for 4 employees to figure out what to do, only to end up being told I canāt buy it now. I was not offered any sort of apology at all or āsorry for wasting your timeā. The incompetence here is just stunning! Shows a complete lack of organization. I had my card out ready to make the purchase right there but was denied. Then ended up driving home during a serious thunderstorm that just hit while my family is at home wondering why Iām coming home later than what I told them. I shouldāve just stuck with the stuff I came for but saw that tree and decided to ask about it. The lady who works the garden section was completely unfriendly and unknowledgeable and was no help at all. I wonāt make this mistake again because I will not return to this store for anything else moving forward. I donāt ask for much or expect to be treated like royalty, but this to me is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy family just purchased a house and we decided we were going to buy all of the materials at Home Depot. Anyone buying a house knows how stressful it is to deal with DIY projects. We chose our local home depot store. First day there, super nice! They asked us about opening up a credit card with the best attitude possible. My mom thought it was a good idea. As the week has progressed, we have visited the store multiple times. The service has gotten worse and worse. I, myself, have worked in customer service before and 1. I know when i am in the wrong 2. When i am being disrespected. I was in awe of the way the manager and staff spoke to us today. We received a coupon in the mail. We have been trying to use it everyday (you would too if it saved you $100+) every day, there has been a different problem with it. Never allowing us to use it. We have already spent thousands of dollars in this store. Today, we went to check out normally. (My mom was at the store for 3 hours yesterday trying to figure it out and avoid the problem) they sent us to customer care. When we arrived there, we dealt with 'libby' older woman blonde hair. As my brother started telling her our situation, she goes 'i dont care what the told you. We wont do it for you.' Mmmm excuse me? Then interrupts my brother and says ' i dont care who told you what in any store. Youre wrong and we're not gonna do it.' My brother said he had spoken to the manager the previous day and all he wanted was clarity on the situation. Mind you, the coupon we were using was saving us $21. 'Libby' said she was going to call a manager before he approached us, she went to meet him in the middle of the way. When he got to us, the managers name was JIM. He was rolling his eyes... My brother tried and talked to him he cut him half sentenced and said 'i dealt with your mom yesterday and im not dealing with you.' Wowwww. My brother said 'i need clarity on what yall say. Every day is something different. Yesterday was something else.' He responded with 'YESTERDAY WAS THE PAST. The past is history.' Mmmm yesterday wasnt the past when you were kissing our butt to get a credit card out of us. WE WILL NEVER BUY FROM HOME DEPOT AGAIN. The amount of disrespect. My brother pulled him aside after we made our purchase and said ' i dont think you handled that very well' he said 'when you're dealing with the same people, you just want them out of here.' Our pleasure. We will be out of their way. Never buy anything from Home Depot on woodstock (exit 7 of...
