Upper Haven Sky Bar — Restaurant in Hà Nội

Can't begin to describe just how much we enjoyed our meal. It topped off a really wonderful day I shared with my beautiful wife. Initially we weren't feeling hungry, but the wonderful atmosphere made us want to extend our stay. We decided to order a light meal - spring rolls to share, my wife ordered a pumpkin soup and I ordered a caesar salad. The spring rolls were superb, so tasty but in a balanced way - no overpowering ingredient like garlic. It was so yummy. My wife loved the pumpkin soup - from the presentation to the taste. She savoured every spoonful. The prawn was a genius touch. The caesar salad is a favourite dish of mine. So many restaurants get it so wrong in the pursuit of trying to differentiate themselves from the pack - call it vanity. This is a dish that is best served by adherence to classical values. Again this dish was superb. Dressing was yummy, not too much, not too little, parmesan nice and sharp, chicken juicy, the egg had a deep yellow yolk and tasted like heaven. What a find. If you are ANYWHERE in Hanoi you have to go to this sky bar (Upper Haven Sky Bar) in the old quarter. The view is AMAZING and honestly this is the BEST cocktail we’ve had since we’ve been in Vietnam. There are comfortable chairs (we are Americans with larger frame bodies) and multiple seating areas in different levels, that make for privacy. There are plants and trees and beautiful vertical walls and has an inside seating area too. The cocktails are very reasonable and from 3-6 pm it’s happy hour 2 for the price of one. Kim is the manager and is extremely accommodating but everyone is so nice and personable. Service is good and fast with an attentive staff. Have I mentioned the 360* view? We first visited this sky bar at the start of our travels around South East Asia. The views of Hanoi are spectacular, and the drinks are fantastic! Especially around sunset when the drinks are buy 1 get 1 free! 😁 What makes this place so special is the staff though.. You really get treated like royalty here, everyone is so warm and hospitable! We were so impressed that we ended up booking a stay with the hotel beneath the bar when we returned back to Hanoi at the end of our trip!
