1st time visitor to Jim Whelan's Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ. Went here on Saturday, May 11, 2024, for a Mother's Day concert. Silk, Dru Hill, SWV, and Kem performed. The show started at 7p.m. abd they were only a couple minutes past 7 p.m. getting started. I couldn't believe the size of this place. It's a huge arena. There is parking underneath the building which was very convenient. We paid $40 to park, and we entered the building and took escalators up to the first floor, never having to go outside where it was quite chilly. Upstairs, security had us put our handbags on the table as we walked through metal detectors. We had floor seats in section 2, which was dead center from the stage. They had several staff to assist people in finding their seats. Upstairs on the 2nd floor were all of the concession stands, for food and drinks. And the restrooms were on the 2nd level as well. There was a vendor who was selling jewelry and she had some pretty nice stuff. There was a Smoothie stand, a popcorn stand and pretzels were available too. I saw a PJ Whelians, and other places that sold food but I didn't make any food purchases because I wasn't hungry. Later, I wished that I had at least purchased a bottle of water because I got very thirsty during the show. It was a great space and I believe it was a sold out show. Certain ticket purchases were eligible for the VIP AFTERPARTY, which ran from 11PM-3AM. Our tickets were eligible, but we were ready to leave when the show was over so we didn't bother. We purchased our tickets through Ticketmaster for the show at $160.00 each. We stayed in the Hampton Inn in Absecon for 2 nights, coming down on Friday, 5/10 and checking out on Sunday, 5/12. It was only a 15 minute drive to Boardwalk Hall and a great show. We tried to get brunch at Kelcey's on Sunday but they had a line outside the door, so we decided against it because it was lightly raining already! ALL IN ALL, a nice Mother's Day and the first time I've been to A.C. in years!

This place is great for concerts but lacks security and organization. The line to get in was several blocks long. Once doors opened they divided us into two lines, then directed folks from the second line back into the first line creating a bottleneck at the entrance. Took us over an hour to get in and some folks weren't inside before the show started. They need better organization to keep the traffic flowing.
Once you got inside there are metal detectors. Except the line we were in had security guards with a wand that they would scan around your torso. I was wearing boots that could conceal prohibited items, and they never checked there. Then a security guard asked if I had guns or knives in my purse. I watched other people walk through without him checking inside their purses so I opened my purse to show him I had nothing. I think they sacrificed security to get the bottleneck moving which to me is an automatic failure in my book. With gun issues in our country nowadays, you cannot sacrifice public safety. I did not feel safe at Boardwalk Hall.
Then we get to the bathrooms. For an old building, it looked good! However the bathrooms could use a full-time maintenance person cleaning throughout the show. The seats for the show were dirty and stained, but actually comfortable compared to many other venues. Overall, it was a great show, great location, and luckily nothing happened due to the lack of security, but because of the blatant disregard for security, I am giving 1 star.

Heyy everyone, I am back with another review. Recently I attended a concert with a dearest friend & visited the hall several months ago-both times were great! We were seated in two different areas and levels for the concerts, so there was a notable difference between the two! The first concert we sat in Section 320- row A- seats 15 & 16. The second (most recent) seats were Section 104- row B- seats 10 & 11. Definitely pay the extra cost for better seats as we had superb views and leaving out wasn’t too much of a hassle! The higher seats were veryyy tight and not easily accessible. On both occasions the check in process, alongside the staff members were nice however, needs better organization as everyone was bumping and rushing through.. The overall facility and bathrooms were clean. Drinks & food pricing are expensive yet expected. My only suggestion is to make sure they perform a adequate sound check as during certain periods/performances were supppperrrr blow your eardrums out loud. Also you were unable to hear some of the performers in true clarity. I certainly would return for future events!!

Jersey is always has a pleasant breeze that just kisses your skin. It’s the sort of place that makes you want to kiss your lover on the hand.
I had not been to Jersey for a while before crossing the bridge to see Lil. Wayne in concert, but it is always as nice as I remembered it.
The staff at the venue were professional and efficient. You walk in, place your items on the conveyor belt, and move along. There wasn’t any sort of hold up because they got people in and through.
Once we got our cocktails and waters, we chatted with a few people, and then were shown our seats.
The show started on time, with Wayne coming out and receiving a standing ovation. It made him smile. The lighting was ok. Lots of dimmed red and silver lights with a smoky overcast. The sound system made up for the lightning. Incredible system.
Show ended and the boardwalk was flooded.
I’ll definitely be back!

This venue would not have been my 1st choice if my ticket wasn't gifted to me. And sadly I will not be going back. The sound system is terrible. I didn't feel confident that the security staff were able to keep us safe for variable reasons. The seating arrangement and stage set up was utterly ridiculous. The stage was all the way down one end of the arena while most of the seats were facing sideways. The stage should have been in the center of the arena. The monitors that they had up were so small they look to be the size of an average size residential television. And they kept interrupting the show with graphics and being that the seats are so far away from the stage it seems they would have let the entire show play on the large monitors. I would never go to another show at this venue.
