Unfortunately, a very disappointing experience. Do not fall for it, it's a trap! The establishment seems to be full of unsuspecting tourists from nearby hotels and apartments who mistake this for a very local dining option. People literally sit on top of each other and are queuing for what will be the most fateful decision of their holidays. More than a year of my life in Portugal but this had to be the worst food so far. For starters we had clams which were the worst quality. Almost nothing inside and a quarter did not even open. For the main I had a mixed grill platter which was probably the worst dish of my life. All the very low quality meats you could imagine were fully overdone to kill off whatever had to be killed off, except the sad sausage which didn't find it's way onto the BBQ. All was completely covered by a packet of crisps which were more oily than a can of sardines. My partner had a mediocre, dry piece of salmon surrounded by the softest boiled vegetables...a true feast for the taste buds. On top of that it's not even cheap compared to other restaurants nearby. The waiter clearly realised that those meals were abysmal and tried to save the day with a shot of Ginja. Usually you would not pay for that, but it was also put on the bill. At least the clams and the mixed grill platter were half price but for the whole disappointment we still paid more than 50€. I repeat, do not do this...
Read moreI’ve been to this restaurant in person and ordered multiple times at home. I used to love this place: affordable, great portion sizes and homemade food made with care.
The food used to be good quality 6months ago and then something happened. The food got progressively worst and the prices for delivery went up by almost double. The rice beans changed for the worst (it used to come in a rich sauce full of flavor, with garlic and herbs… and now they serve some dry flavorless rice with canned beans tossed around). The meat tastes lower quality (normally I order pork).
Considering I used to like this place a lot, sometimes I try to give it another chance even though the food is consistently getting worst.
Today I ordered and the pork stake (something i’ve ordered multiple times before) and it was almost raw and inedible. I tried grilling it on a pan to save the food but the taste was off. Last few times I ordered this dish I could tell it was not as good as it used to be, but this time it was objectively bad. I had to throw the food away.
Feels like the produce got worst and they don’t take the time to add flavor to their preparations.
It’s such a shame. I hope they take this comment as constructive criticism and go back to what...
Read moreWas in Portugal a week ago and this restaurant was just down the street from our hotel. Small place, good reviews, so we decided to try it. This was the dinner highlight for us in Lisbon. First, service was fantastic, I'm afraid I forgot our servers name, the young lady though had spent time in New Jersey ( sorry I forgot your name ) and I think a young man named Pedro? attentive, polite and accommodating as they needed to be as I may have gotten a little loud by the second bottle of wine. We met a local named Richard who was more than happy to talk with us and offer suggestions which were all great, especially the wine!! We each had a different dish from the menu, appetizers, desert, coffee and more wine. Just a great local spot, MAKE reservations, if you're in Lisboa and you don't stop here for a bite you are really missing out. So the one thing I will say was out of the ordinary for the area, when I got my bill, they gave me a pre defined tip, very much like the US. A little out of place, but after the way I was acting, they deserved...
