This is my second time here, and I'm not sure what changed, but it's noticeable enough for me to leave a review.
When we walked in, the restaurant was not that busy. Despite the many open tables, we were herded into a secluded part of the restaurant by the bakery where it was very hot. The hostess did not ask us where we would like to be seated, which one would expect, considering it was not that busy.
Despite asking to move, the hostess offered to move us to the table next to us yet in the same section. We had to expressly indicate we wished to move to the other side of the restaurant. It was like pulling teeth before we were moved.
The servers were nice, but the host staff is terrible and pretentious. They seemingly typecast clientele they perceive as sufficiently bourgeois to be deserving of sitting in the main section.
When we left, another hostess (not the one who initially sat us) thanked us and wished us well on our way out, and we in turn. Right at that moment, the apparent floor manager turned to her, snidely and dismissively said to her, "Why did you thank them?" This rude and unprofessional conduct starts from the top and imbues itself all around and down to the host staff.
While the food was good, it's nothing you can't get anywhere else. If that's the kind of service you're going to be met with, save your money and time and go...
Read moreThis enormous restaurant with an endless menu could be described as a "dinner factory" and it's almost impossible to serve up anything other than mediocrity in that situation. Sherep is one of many restaurant "brands" of the Yeremyan Projects restaurant empire. Here, no expense has been spared on atmosphere, which is modern and chic, including a talented live cover-singer. But 3 of the dishes we ordered were unavailable for various reasons, my beer was served warm, and the service was friendly but rushed, as though they wanted to get us in and out as fast as possible. The food came out very fast and was acceptably good, but also quite average in a city full of great restaurants. To make up for the mishaps we were offered a free drink, which was appreciated (same exact thing happened to us at Lavash, another of their restaurants.) Summary: this restaurant, which seems to cater to tourists, visitors, birthday guests is a polished professional affair that creates a grand image for itself and great first impression, but you leave underwhelmed and with a noticeable hole in your pocket.... The restaurant was packed full of seemingly happy customers and more were being turned away at the door, so maybe...
Read moreGood food, the rest was a let down! We were looking forward to a nice meal in a nice atmosphere... but, rather it was super hectic and hence the good food was let down by the poor organisation and average service staff and management. Monday evening and it is busy, the friendly man at the entrance takes our coats. But the young woman showing us the table did not seem to understand the poor location of the table. First, it is next/under the staircase and a constant flow of guests and the even louder (stomping) service staff went up and down next to us. The young woman did also not warn us that five minutes after our arrival, the musicians would fiddle around for one hour next to our table to get their material and instruments out from under the staircase. Hence, while the food was good - but not served in the right intervals (my dish came much after my wife's main course) - the atmosphere was hectic, loud and not suitable for what otherwise could have been a very good experience. The management has not attention to detail, don't care about the individual customers, nor have they recruited some experienced and friendly staff. In short, we cannot recommend this place for a nice, calm, outstanding...
